From the author of The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life, Stigma is analyzes a person's feelings about himself and his relationship to people whom society calls "normal." Stigma is an illuminating excursion into the situation of persons who are unable to conform to standards that society calls normal. Disqualified from full social acceptance, they are stigmatized individuals. Physically deformed people, ex-mental patients, drug addicts, prostitutes, or those ostracized for other reasons must constantly strive to adjust to their precarious social identities. Their image of themselves must daily confront and be affronted by the image which others reflect back to them. Drawing extensively on autobiographies and case studies, sociologist Erving Goffman analyzes the stigmatized person's feelings about himself and his relationship to "normals" He explores the variety of strategies stigmatized individuals employ to deal with the rejection of others, and the complex sorts of information about themselves they project. In Stigma the interplay of alternatives the stigmatized individual must face every day is brilliantly examined by one of America's leading social analysts.Binding Type: Paperback

Long time Timex ironman digital owner. First analog watch I've owned in a long, long time. LOVE IT.

Long time Timex iron man digital owner. First analog watch I've owned in a long, long time. LOVE IT. I don't know I'd go swimming or kayaking with this -- might be fine -- but for "dry land" this is a great watch, good band, for a reasonable price. It's battery powered, but that's OK with me.

Disappointing
Color: Black/Black/Black
Overall the watch is ok. The price doesn't reflect the quality of the watch. This should be a $20.00 dollar watch. I purchased this partially because I thought the number would glow at night, they do not. The hour and minute hand barely glow at night. I decided to just keep it, rather than returning it, and now I wish I had just returned it. After 2 months, I got a scratch on the watch, what looks like cheap, plastic. I can't say I would recommend it for that reason, I'm a average field watch wearer, which means they have to be somewhat durable. This was disappointing.
