While making up a smaller percentage of Minnesota's population compared to national averages, African Americans have had a profound influence on the history and culture of the state from its earliest days to the present. Author David Taylor chronicles the rich history of Blacks in the state through careful analysis of census and housing records, newspaper records, and first-person accounts. He recounts the triumphs and struggles of African Americans in Minnesota over the past 200 years in a clear and concise narrative. Major themes covered include settlement by Blacks during the territorial and early statehood periods; the development of urban Black communities in St. Paul, Minneapolis, and Duluth; Blacks in rural areas; the emergence of Black community organizations and leaders in the late-nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries; and Black communities in transition during the turbulent last half of the twentieth century. Taylor also introduces influential and notable African Americans: George Bonga, the first African American born in the region during the fur trade era; Harriet and Dred Scott, whose two-year residence at Fort Snelling in the 1830s later led to a famous, though unsuccessful, legal challenge to the institution of slavery; John Quincy Adams, publisher of the state's first Black newspaper; Fredrick L. McGhee, the state's first Black lawyer; community leaders, politicians, and civil servants including James Griffin, Sharon Sayles Belton, Alan Page, Jean Harris, and Dr. Richard Green; and nationally influential artists including August Wilson, Lou Bellamy, Prince, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis. African Americans in Minnesota is the fourth book in The People of Minnesota, a series dedicated to telling the history of the state through the stories of its ethnic groups in accessible and illustrated paperbacks.Binding Type: Paperback

☀️ Holy Grail SPF Mist! especially for makeup days 💦
Item Package Quantity: 1, Item Package Quantity: 1
If you hate the feeling of greasy sunscreen but still want serious protection, this is the glow-up you’ve been waiting for. I use this as the last step in my morning skincare and as a top-up over makeup throughout the day. It’s lightweight, non-greasy, and gives a dewy finish without looking oily, just a fresh, hydrated glow ✨
The mist is fine and even (no big droplets or weird stickiness), and it dries down fast. No white cast, no clogged pores, no breakouts. Just SPF 50+ that actually works with your makeup instead of wrecking it. I’ve even used it midday at Disneyland and didn’t burn once, and I’m someone who burns if I think too hard about sunshine 🥵
Helpful hint: Shake it well before spraying, and hold it about 6 inches from your face for a nice even mist. One pass usually does the trick, but I like to go back over my nose and cheeks for extra protection ☁️ It also doubles as a midday makeup refresher, especially when your foundation starts looking a little dry 🧴
I brought this with me on a full weekend trip to Disneyland and it absolutely earned its spot in my park bag 🎒 I was in the sun all day, both days, and didn’t burn at all, even with minimal shade and back-to-back rides 🎢 It layered like a dream over makeup, didn’t feel heavy, and made touch-ups fast and easy in between churros. This mist officially passed the Disneyland test. 🎡☀️💕

Good but heavy smell
Item Package Quantity: 1
I will keep using this bc it works and the sprayer is sooo nice but the smell is so overwhelming. It’s not a bad smell but it’s just so heavy. I’ll use this one but I don’t see myself repurchasing.

Good but confusing instructions
It is very glowy. After spraying this on my husband commented on why I was sweating so much 😹 I told him it’s my face mist spf. I have very dry and very sensitive skin and this has not broken me out (yet). I’ve used it for about a week now. I don’t know how much sun protection I’m really getting though. And reapplying it all through out the day, esp in the summer will lead to very very oily looking skin.
It’s also confusing because it says do not spray directly onto face. (?) I just hold my breath and close my eyes tightly before I put my mascara on and spray this. So far it’s been helpful with not making my make up look cakey. There is a smell but it’s not a bad smell, slightly fruity and the smell of spf. If you are sensitive to smells this might not be for you.

Great sun protection!
Sun protection factor: 50 Sun Protection Factor (SPF), Size: 6 Ounce (Pack of 2)
My favorite summer sunscreen protection for myself and my kiddos! Smells good and does what it says. Kids are in and out of the water and mom basks in the sun so it protects us all!
