Maneka is the musical project of Devin McKnight. A familiar presence in music circles for much of the past decade, McKnight has made appearances in projects like Grass Is Green and most prominently as the guitarist in Speedy Ortiz, with his lead parts underpinning their 2015 breakthrough 'Foil Deer'. He amicably left Speedy Ortiz in 2017 with the intention of developing his own voice as a songwriter, and quickly released his first EP under the Maneka name which was praised by publications like Billboard, Stereogum and DIY. Now McKnight is releasing his debut full length as Maneka, an album entitled 'Devin', a deeply personal release that encapsulate the musical experience of one of the more distinct and multifaceted performers currently making guitar music. The album, which nods to genres as varied as grindcore, jazz, shoegaze, hip hop, new wave and post-punk, is a celebration of McKnight's identity as a musician and a person. Thematically the album digs deep into the corresponding territory of McKnight's experience as a musician and a person of color in America, exploring a perspective that is rarely represented in indie rock. His embrace of this thematic direction is reflective of the lessons learned over the course of his career so far. The results are consistently engaging, and surprising. A must-read to shed light on the experiences of Palestinian-American children
Format: Hardcover
I picked up this book not knowing what to expect. What I ended up with was a rich and beautiful telling of the experiences of a young Palestinian-American girl who is trying to find her voice in a world that misunderstands and silences her. She is the hero that so many students need to hear about. Ida in the Middle beautifully weaves history, culture, and hope together for an empowering story of justice.

We are past due for Palestinian American heroines!
Format: Hardcover
Such an engaging read for this adult. How many books for older children have a Palestinian American main character as engaging as Ida? Not since Amani in "The Shepherd's Granddaughter" by Anne Laurel Carter (2010) or Liyana in "Habibi" by Naomi Shihab Nye (1997). We need diverse books and MORE of them. They are good food for discussion.

The Struggle to Belong

Ida in the Middle is a must-read for anyone who cares about justice for Palestinians in Palestine, in the USA, and everywhere else. Author Nora Lester Murad gives us a protagonist struggling to find her place in a world that often denies her dignity. Her struggle is everyone’s struggle, especially in these turbulent times.

Best LitRPG
Format: Kindle
This is absolutely the best litRPG I've ever read as well as the best self-published series. Between the character progression, the amazing sense of humor, and the relatability of the characters, this is my top recommendation for anyone interested in litRPGs. I fell in love so much that I had to sign up for the Patreon account so I could get my fix regularly (5 new chapters each week). I even managed to get my roommate hooked on the audiobooks.
If you're looking for a fun story with loveable characters, surprising insights, and epic fights, this is for you.
