It was developed to carry the firepower of both a core fighter-type unit and a mobile suit, combining the hardpoint armament and combat flexibility expected in large-scale engagements. Piloted by Judau Ashta, the ZZ Gundam is equipped with a double beam rifle, hyper beam sabres that double as beam cannons, and other armaments stored in its backpack, including a missile container. Its design emphasises both raw power and versatility, with multiple modes of combat depending on mission needs.

This kit is part of Bandai’s High Grade Universal Century (HGUC) line released in 2010, produced in 1/144 scale. It includes parts for transforming between its standard mobile suit mode and its “G-Fortress” configuration via separable Core Top and Core Base components. The kit offers good articulation in shoulders, arms, legs, and ankles, with posable skirt armour and multiple hand options. Accessories include the double beam rifle, beam sabres, and display stand components. Colour separation is present, reducing the need for painting for many parts, though detailing and stickers/decals are included for enhanced accuracy.
