From 5/1/1988:

This season, the just-opened-in- January Au Bar is considered “the” hottest haunt. So hop a cab to East 58th Street. But don’t get confused. You won’t see a name, a sign or lights at Au Bar’s hideaway entrance. Just a velvet rope and a few suited gatekeepers.

There’s a strict “New York door policy” that translates to: If you want to get in, you’d better look good. Or “bad,” as the case may warrant. Door charge is $10 on weeknights, $15 on weekends.

You descend beneath a modern office building and enter a veddy British gentlemen’s club.

The decor is library through and through. Polished wooden floors, Oriental rugs, velvet and silk overstuffed couches, damask-fringed draperies, marble fireplaces with brass accoutrements. Even antique wooden shelves filled with the classics. Only an upward glance at the black-ducted ceiling will bring you back to reality.

Au Bar owner Howard Stein is no stranger to the New York club scene. Back in the ’60s, he was a rock concert promoter. He opened the Capitol Theatre, where groups such as the Grateful Dead and Mott the Hoople played. Then he got bored with rock, donned a white Travolta suit, married a Patti Labelle lookalike and opened Xenon’s, which became the New York disco of the ’70s.

When New Wave turned into commercial, Stein opened the Rock Lounge. But when punk died a pitiful death, along with Sid Vicious, so did it.

Which brings us to the present yuppie datebook time, and to Stein’s latest, Au Bar, the snobbiest, chicest club in town. Au Bar opens at 9 p.m., closes at 4 a.m., and has an elegant dinner menu and breakfast bites. Everything from scrambled eggs to caviar, pasta to desserts. Prices are $6 to $20 for entrees; drinks are $7; a well-chilled bottle of Dom Perignon runs $125.

The Au Bar crowd varies with each tick of the clock. The later the hour, the prettier and hipper they get. The young and the tasteless are replaced by Euro-trash flashy fellows with slicked hair who cavort with Pretty Young Things in black minis and horn-rimmed glasses, while the bored and bedenimed Trust Fund Babies spend their time and Daddy’s money with a well-fevered passion. “Part of the success of the club is the interesting mix of people. It’s everything from black tie to black leather,” one employee says.

Around 2, the club lights dim and the dance floor rocks. The club prides itself, with reason, on the most eclectic musical menu in town. “In an evening, you’ll hear everything from cool jazz to hip show tunes, from Southern soul to rhythmic island beat to the latest Euro-pop dance music,” says Mark Gorbulew, Au Bar music coordinator.

It’s been said that Stein was after an Algonquin lobby ambiance, a round- table feel. And he got it. Lock, stock of books and whiskey barrel imported from merry old England.

But decor aside, Au Bar is a swinging New York nightclub. There isn’t the glittering literati clientele to match the elegant, intellectualized interior. Don’t listen for any Dorothy Parker barbs or well-flung Robert Benchley sarcasm. Oh, and those antique classic books? They sit untouched on the shelves.

Fiber with slight beauty benefits
This supplement definitely falls into the “everything including the kitchen sink” category. You’ve got 10g fiber, 30 billion CFU probiotics, inulin, ACV, plus collagen, biotin, keratin, and vitamins C and E, all in one gummy. In real use, the most noticeable effect is on digestion first, beauty second. The fiber and probiotics actually do seem to help with regularity and a less bloated feeling over time which to me is where this product feels most legitimate. The skin, hair, and nail claims are much harder to directly feel, and honestly those effects (if any) are usually subtle and slow anyway. The main issue is exactly what you’d expect from a formula this stacked. It’s trying to do a lot at once, so nothing is really at a high enough dose to feel targeted. It ends up being more of a general wellness gummy with a strong fiber base, rather than a serious collagen or hair supplement.Taste and convenience are good, and it’s easy to stay consistent with. But like many multi-benefit gummies, there’s a bit of a tradeoff between ease and actual potency. The gummies themselves do taste amazing and I love the texture. They’re also sugar free which is very appreciated. Overall, I’d say this makes the most sense if you want a digestive support gummy with some bonus beauty ingredients layered in, not if you’re looking for strong, noticeable hair or skin changes.

Berry-Flavored Fiber Gummies
These fiber gummies are a quick and convenient way to introduce more fiber into your diet, along with some additional supplements including keratin, vitamins, and probiotics. As these are gummies instead of pills, they're easier to take than trying to swallow whole capsules. The taste is a pleasant berry flavor. While the product packaging prominently displays blueberries, and blueberry flavor is included as one of the ingredients, none of the marketing actually lists these as being blueberry flavored. The price of these gummies ($17.24 with coupon at the time of review) is on par with other fiber supplements, but these have the added benefit of including additional supplements. For awareness, the advertised 10 grams of fiber is only achieved by taking 3 gummies, instead of the lower recommended amount of 2 (which only offers ~7 grams of fiber). After taking these for about a month I did not notice any significant changes or improvements to my digestive health, but effects will vary from person to person. If you're looking for a fiber supplement with some additional vitamins included, these are a good choice.

I Noticed Improved Digestive Results
I really liked these Migcopat fiber gummies. I started taking them after a gap from my last supplement and noticed a change. I felt a positive impact on my digestive results. My bowel movements were easier to pass, cleaner, and more well-formed. The pectin-based gummies were a little above average size, but they were soft and easy to chew. They did not stick to my teeth at all. They were sugar-free. They came in a clear plastic bottle. The gummies had a tasty, natural blueberry flavor. A serving size was two or three gummies, giving twenty or thirty servings per container. The formula included biotin, keratin, zinc, apple cider vinegar, and other vitamins. I was very happy with the taste, the texture, and the results. The Supplement Facts print was small on the container - it was a little larger on the box.

Great blueberry aroma, easy to chew, sugar-free formula, long expiration date
The blueberry aroma when I open the jar is wonderful, and the taste is excellent. I really like that the texture breaks down pretty easily when chewed instead of sticking to my teeth. It is great to find a sugar-free option that packs in fiber, prebiotics, and probiotics, plus a few extras like biotin and collagen. I have been taking supplements like this for years, so I do not expect to feel any drastic changes, but everything is working well for me with no ill effects. It is also nice that the expiration date is clearly printed on both the box and the bottle, giving my batch about 23 months of shelf life. Pros ✅ Excellent blueberry taste and aroma. ✅ Soft texture breaks down easily without sticking to teeth. ✅ Sugar-free formula with a great 23-month expiration window. ✅ Includes hair and skin support ingredients like biotin and collagen. Neutrals – The 60-count bottle yields 20 to 30 servings depending on whether you take two or three gummies. Cons ❌ None observed, these are very pleasant to take.

Tasty, Easy to Take
This is the 3rd flavor of this brand that I've tried. I have to say that I preferred the grape and the little strawberry hearts better than these, as far as taste. These also are quite high in Biotin at 33,333% of the daily value, if you take the 3 gummies that equal 10g fiber. If you do want 10g of fiber the jar won't last an entire month. I don't really need the hair/nail support, so I'll probably go back to one of the other flavors. These are so easy to get out of the wide-mouth jar and they don't stick together too much. They're a soft gummy and are easy to chew. I don't tend to have an issue with them sticking to my teeth. The jar I received was manufactured in Apr 2026 and expires Apr 2028. Another reviewer mentioned that they're made in the USA, but I don't see that claim anywhere in the listing or on the product...although they're distributed by a New York company.
