The social dynamics of "alternative facts" why what you believe depends on who you know "Empowering and thoroughly researched, this book offers useful contemporary analysis and possible solutions to one of the greatest threats to democracy."--Kirkus Reviews Editors' choice, New York Times Book Review - Recommended reading, Scientific American Why should we care about having true beliefs? And why do demonstrably false beliefs persist and spread despite bad, even fatal, consequences for the people who hold them? Philosophers of science Cailin O'Connor and James Weatherall argue that social factors, rather than individual psychology, are what's essential to understanding the spread and persistence of false beliefs. It might seem that there's an obvious reason that true beliefs matter: false beliefs will hurt you. But if that's right, then why is it (apparently) irrelevant to many people whether they believe true things or not? The Misinformation Age, written for a political era riven by "fake news," "alternative facts," and disputes over the validity of everything from climate change to the size of inauguration crowds, shows convincingly that what you believe depends on who you know. If social forces explain the persistence of false belief, we must understand how those forces work in order to fight misinformation effectively.Binding Type: Paperback

Love these!!!
Special Size: 7" Inseam without Pockets, Size: Large, Color: Ocean Blue
Super happy with these shorts!!! Wore them on a full day at the theme park. Stayed in place and did not ride up. No pinching or constricting. The material is buttery soft and the blue is so vibrant and pretty!! Don’t show every bump and imperfection, but does show some. It’s not totally smoothing. Very work out friendly, heat friendly, running errands friendly. Would definitely recommend and plan to buy other colors. Comfy waist band as well.

Excellent Work-out & Biking Short
Special Size: 7" Inseam without Pockets, Size: Small, Color: Ocean Blue
I love these biker shorts. They have just the right amount of lycra and they are super soft. They are true to size, and they fit perfectly on my 5'2", 125-pound frame. I purchased them for use in bike riding, and I am very pleased with the fit and stretch. The inseam length is perfect for bike riding, and the legs don't ride up my thigh. The only con to all the pros is there isn't a phone pocket. I ride my bike around town, and I would have liked to have a pocket for my phone when going inside a store. These shorts are well worth the price. I purchased three different colors and love them all. I would definitely purchase this item again.

Cute and comfy and worth the price
Special Size: 5" Inseam with Pockets, Size: Small, Color: Flamingo Pink
These shorts are cute and comfy! I'm 5'5" and 120lbs and ordered a medium which fit perfectly, a small definitely would have been too tight. The high waist is flattering and the fabric is soft yet supportive. My only complaint is that the material isn't as thick as I would like. I love the 5″ inseam—it’s sporty without being too short. The pockets are convenient for keys or cards, and the material is opaque, breathable, and comfortable for everything from yoga to errands. A versatile, everyday essential which is worth it for the price. I’ll be buying in more colors!
