Renowned for her innovative wire sculptures, Japanese American artist Ruth Asawa (1926–2013) was a teenager in Southern California when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and the United States entered World War II. Japanese Americans on the West Coast were forced into camps. Asawa’s family had to abandon their farm, her father was incarcerated, and she and the rest of her family were sent to a detention center in California, and later to a concentration camp in Arkansas. Asawa nurtured her dreams of becoming an artist while imprisoned and eventually made her way to the experimental Black Mountain College in North Carolina.
This graphic biography by Sam Nakahira, developed in consultation with Asawa’s younger daughter, Addie Lanier, chronicles the genesis of Asawa as an artist—from the horror of Pearl Harbor to her transformative education at Black Mountain College to building her life in San Francisco, where she would further develop and refine her groundbreaking sculpture.
Asawa never sought fame, preferring to work on her own terms: for her, art and life were one. Using lively illustrations and a dozen photographs of Asawa’s artwork, Ruth Asawa: An Artist Takes Shape is a graphic retelling of her young adult years and demonstrates the transformative power of making art.

This is never emailed
We have never received this warranty after asking multiple times and it is impossible to connect with seller directly.
I highly recommend not buying the watch or the warranty.
We only purchased the watch because of this warranty coverage.
I suspect that the warranty is invalid anyway if anyone does get it emailed to them. So we buy the watch with warranty, it never comes so we just ask for a refund on the warranty payment but we keep the watch which probably dies within two or three years and because it’s not from the Fossil company we can’t do anything about it breaking down so soon. My guess is that’s the plan.
Very disappointed and will not use this seller again.

Watch insurance
I purchased a citizen watch from Amazon and decided to get warranty they was pushing 🫸 not knowing I was given a 5 yr warranty from citizen company with purchase! Cannot give opinions on it because I have gotten no information about this program and have not had to use it... but I can contact them anyway....

Solid Timepiece

Overall, I’m really happy with this watch. The only small complaint I have is adjusting the bracelet. I picked up a $15 watch repair kit to size it myself, and while it wasn’t difficult, the push-pin links were definitely more of a hassle than I expected—especially compared to my Oyster bracelet with screws. Just a bit time-consuming, nothing major.
Once that part was done, though, I’ve loved everything about it. It’s a great everyday watch, surprisingly accurate, and one of those pieces you just don’t get tired of looking at.
For what it’s worth, this is coming from someone who also owns a Submariner—not trying to flex, and yes, I fully realize how douchey that sounds. Nothing screams “please validate my life choices” like bragging about an overpriced watch that basically just tells time. But in all seriousness, I only mention it to give some perspective on how much I genuinely enjoy this one.
