Engineered for performance, reliability, and scalable data networking, the Extreme Networks Summit X460-G2 VIM-2ss is a purpose-built Virtual Interface Module designed to enhance stacking and inter-switch connectivity in Summit X460-G2 deployments. This 2-port copper module leverages 10GBase-T technology to deliver fast, flexible interconnects using standard RJ-45 twisted-pair cabling. Ideal for enterprise campuses, data centers, and distributed networks, the VIM-2ss helps you maximize uplink bandwidth, simplify management, and optimize rack space without sacrificing reliability.

  • Two 10GBase-T copper ports: The VIM-2ss provides two RJ-45 10GBase-T interfaces, delivering up to 10 Gbps of full-duplex bandwidth per port. This enables high-speed interconnects between Summit X460-G2 switches, supporting rapid data transfer, low latency, and efficient trunking across stacked devices. With copper cabling, you gain cost-effective, familiar infrastructure that scales with your network demands.
  • Stacking-ready design for Summit X460-G2: Built specifically for the X460-G2 family, the VIM-2ss integrates seamlessly into stacking architectures. It enhances inter-switch connectivity, improves management visibility across a stack, and supports resilient, scalable network topologies suitable for edge, campus, and data-center applications.
  • Low latency and high performance: By delivering dedicated 10GBase-T links between switches, this module helps minimize inter-switch latency while maximizing throughput. The VIM-2ss is designed to support bandwidth-intensive workloads, virtualization scenarios, and clustering requirements where predictable performance matters for service levels.
  • Hot-swappable, maintenance-friendly design: The VIM-2ss is designed for non-disruptive maintenance in many configurations. It can be replaced or upgraded with minimal downtime, enabling you to keep critical networks online while performing routine hardware maintenance or capacity upgrades.
  • Compact form factor for high-density deployments: The VIM-2ss occupies a compact slot in the Summit X460-G2 chassis, optimizing rack density and reducing the physical footprint of your network. This space efficiency is especially valuable in data centers and distributed environments where every rack unit counts.

how to install Extreme Networks Summit X460-G2 VIM-2ss

Install the VIM-2ss module with attention to safety, ESD precautions, and proper chassis procedures. The steps below outline a typical installation path for a Summit X460-G2 chassis equipped with VIM slots. Always refer to your organization’s change control and vendor documentation for model-specific guidance.

  • Step 1: Power down procedures and safety — If your environment permits, enable maintenance mode or schedule a controlled outage. Power down the chassis according to your data center’s electrical safety guidelines to protect personnel and equipment.
  • Step 2: Access the chassis and locate the VIM slots — Identify the slot dedicated to the Summit X460-G2 VIM-2ss module. Check the chassis backplane and interconnect alignments to ensure proper seating of the module.
  • Step 3: Align and insert the VIM-2ss — With care, align the module’s edge connectors with the slot, ensuring even pressure and a full seating without bending pins. Push gently until the module is firmly seated and the retention mechanism (if present) latches securely.
  • Step 4: Secure and verify — If the chassis requires screws or retention hardware, fasten them following the chassis manual. Reinstall any covers, reconnect power, and allow the system to complete POST or health checks.
  • Step 5: Configure the interfaces — After the device boots, access the management interface to verify port status, enable 10GBase-T interfaces if needed, and configure stacking or link aggregation as required by your network design. Confirm that both RJ-45 ports are up and functioning as intended.

delightful read
Format: Kindle
What a delightful read. The characters are awesome, the plot was so good, I loved it. I was intrigued and it kept me wanting more. Told in multiple pov, the book sucks you in and doesn’t let go. I cannot wait to read the next book.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
