The Buslink CipherShield CSX-2T-U3 delivers enterprise-grade data security in a dependable 2 TB external hard drive. Built for organizations that demand rock-solid protection for confidential information, this 3.5-inch desktop device combines hardware-based encryption with high-speed data transfer interfaces to safeguard data at rest while supporting fast, seamless access across departments, offices, and remote sites. Featuring CipherShield hardware encryption with 512-bit protection and dual connectivity via USB 3.0 and eSATA, the CSX-2T-U3 is designed to meet the needs of IT teams who require both robust security and practical performance in a single, scalable external solution. If your business handles customer records, financial data, or sensitive intellectual property, this drive provides a portable vault that’s easy to deploy, easy to manage, and easy to integrate into existing security policies.

  • Advanced hardware encryption for data at rest. The CipherShield platform delivers 512-bit hardware encryption, ensuring that all stored information remains protected even if the device is lost or misplaced. No software can compromise the encryption during data transfer or while the drive remains idle, helping you enforce strict data protection policies across the organization with minimal administrative overhead.
  • Blazing-fast performance with USB 3.0 and eSATA interfaces. For teams that move large files or operate data-rich workflows, the CSX-2T-U3 supports USB 3.0 up to 5 Gbps and offers an eSATA option, enabling rapid data transfers between the drive and servers or workstations. This dual-interface design balances compatibility and speed, letting you choose the best path for your environment without sacrificing security.
  • Capacious 2 TB storage in a durable 3.5" external enclosure. A standard desktop form factor provides ample space for archives, backups, and recurring project data. The external drive is ready to slot into a workstation or server rack, supporting long-term retention strategies, disaster recovery plans, and routine backups for multiple teams without constant reorganization of your storage footprint.
  • Security-driven design for cross-boundary access and governance. With hardware-accelerated encryption and policy-driven access controls, the CipherShield CSX-2T-U3 supports secure data sharing across organizational boundaries. IT teams can enforce encryption requirements, restrict unauthorized access, and maintain a clear audit trail for compliance, making it a trusted component of secure data governance programs.
  • Flexible deployment and broad compatibility for business environments. The CSX-2T-U3 is designed to integrate into a variety of IT ecosystems. It works with standard Windows and Mac environments and can be configured for straightforward, encrypted backups, secure data transport, or secure cold storage. Its straightforward USB 3.0 and eSATA connectivity minimizes setup time, reduces downtime, and keeps your teams focused on core activities rather than storage administration.

  • Step 6: Eject safely after completing transfers. Always use the operating system’s safe eject procedure to avoid data corruption and ensure encryption remains intact.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What is CipherShield? A hardware-based encryption technology that protects data at rest on the drive. It provides strong cryptographic protection independent of the host system, helping prevent unauthorized data access even if the drive is physically compromised.
  • Q: How secure is the 512-bit encryption? A: The 512-bit hardware encryption level offers a high standard of protection for stored data, making unauthorized decryption extremely impractical with current technology. Encryption occurs at the hardware level, reducing exposure to software-based threats.
  • Q: Do I need special software to use this drive? A: Basic usage typically requires no special software. For full security management, you may install vendor-provided tools to manage encryption keys, user access, and policy settings. Some environments may benefit from driver or software updates provided by Buslink.
  • Q: Is this drive compatible with both Windows and Mac? A: Yes, the drive is designed to work in Windows and Mac environments. You may need to format or repartition the drive for complete cross-platform usability, depending on your backup and file-sharing requirements.
  • Q: Can I use USB 3.0 and eSATA interchangeably? A: The CSX-2T-U3 supports both interfaces to maximize compatibility and performance. Choose USB 3.0 for most workstation setups and eSATA when a higher-speed, direct-sata connection is available for servers or backups.
  • Q: What happens if the drive is lost or stolen? A: Because data is protected by hardware encryption, unauthorized users cannot access the stored information without the proper encryption keys or credentials, significantly reducing the risk of data breach.

The history is unpleasant and therefore worth knowing.
It's a wonderfully enlightening history of how European explorers visited, settled in, conquered, and exploited other continents with unparalleled cruelty in the name of power, greed, and their "loving" religion that brought them misery, exploitation and, all too often, abject slavery.

Wonderful History Lessons
I ordered this book to use for a college paper I was writing and found it fascinating. I enjoyed the content and learned much from it. The history is written in a manner that for those people that either don't read much or don't like to read (yes, there are a few people out there), it will draw you in and make you question the history lessons we suffered through in high school.

Rediscovering America
This is an eye-opening, scholarly rebuttal to common perceptions about native American society before and after the European invasion. Ronald Wright makes no secret of his bias in favor of the people who were here first; in fact, he enhances the impact of what for many will be new information by presenting this extraordinary history from the point of view of the conquered. He also makes clear how large a part of the conquest was due to immune system rather than military deficiencies: if smallpox and other diseases had not done killed most of the native population, the facts recounted here suggest that history, particularly in South America, may have evolved quite differently. In undertaking the massive task of recounting the invasion of all of the Americas, some selectivity is inevitable. Wright has chosen to focus on the story of five distinct native groups: Aztec, Maya, Inca, Cherokee and Iroquois. He then arbitrarily subdivides the story into three consecutive time periods: Conquest, Resistance and Rebirth. After the physical and political annihilation recounted in the first two sections, the title of the third may seem overly optimistic, particularly for the Guatemalan Maya. However, the concluding tone is more conciliatory and hopeful than mournful, particularly in the Afterword that updates matters to 2005, 13 years after the original publication date. The astounding amount of research involved in producing this admittedly selective overview is well-indexed and annotated. My only quibble is that Wright, obviously an expert in the field of native culture, sometimes borders on the compulsive in matters of linguistic authenticity. I did not buy this book to learn ancient native languages, let alone their pronunciation, and at times I found the inclusion of such trivia distracted from rather than enhanced the otherwise convincing scholarship. This obsession with accuracy is commendable, but after getting it out of his system in the Author's note, his amazing narrative would have been no less compelling if he stuck to the language of his contemporary audience. Also, for an author who has settled in British Columbia, it is strangely disappointing that the rich history of the Pacific Northwest coastal natives was not among those he chose to examine. I had read Charles Mann's "1491" prior to this book and found it primed my interest in the subject; both are excellent introductions to the reality of pre-Columbian American societies, but Stolen Continents provides more of a historical context for what has become of them.
