It's no secretthat we're partial to the flourishing NYC metal scene, having workedwith numerous bands from the city. There seems to be anoverwhelming concentration of creative energy coming from theregion, and we love being a part of what's happening there.Pyrolatrous was formed in 2012 by Nicholas Palmirotto (also ofHULL), who wrote and recorded 3 songs with Joel Stallings (also ofRadiation Blackbody/Defeatist) on drums. The project took abackseat to HULL due to touring schedules, but was then revived in2015 after HULL disbanded. Unable to continue with the project at thetime, Joel was replaced on drums by the ubiquitous Lev Weinstein (ofKrallice, Anicon, Woe, Geryon, Zeal and Ardor live lineup, and more).Together, Palmirotto and Weinstein completed writing and recordingTeneral. Following the completion of the album, the remainder of thelineup was solidified with the inclusion of Nolan Voss (guitar, also ofAnicon), and Joe Merolla (bass).Teneral is a densely crafted album, both thematically and musically. Agreat deal of Pyrolatrous' style is influenced by classic black anddeath metal, utilizing both sweeping, blasting tremolo passages andpowerfully technical riff / percussion interplay. Although on TeneralPalmirotto and Weinstein elevate each of the album's ninemovements beyond what has become expected of the standardblackened death composition through their extensive experience andconsiderable skill. On a lyrical level the album touches on topicspersonal and social, but throughout they maintain a commonality intheir observation of life, existence, and the human experienceinteracting with both ones self and the machinations of society.1. Accessible, fun, and exciting.
Format: Kindle
While this book is aimed at younger readers (it includes, for examples, expletives like "Zooks!" and "Zounds!"), I Escaped The Tower of London is a neat historical fiction novella with taught pacing that readers of all ages can enjoy. Using the real-life account of John Gerard as inspiration, the authors have created a young boy who escapes from the Tower of London while attempting to aid Princess Elizabeth during Queen Mary's reign. It's exciting, it fast-paced, and it even has a pleasant message about doing the right thing — even when the right thing is hard to do.
It's packed with a hodgepodge of images (most of them public domain, but also a few original pieces) that add to the experience. And the end includes a brief lesson on the historical figures involved. Despite the source material, you shouldn't worry if you (or your young ones) are squeamish; the main character sidesteps the torture and there's very little violence.
All in all, quite a good read. Very accessible, surprisingly fun and exciting.

I have bought all of the books in this series for my nephew and he LOVES them. I get an email whenever a new one is coming out and I can buy it (which I always do) if I would like. It makes it so easy to keep current on the series.

What an amazing story that tells about history from the perspective of a kid named Ben that was pretty much forced (but was thankful for the work) to work with coal in the Tower of London, to find out Princess Elizabeth was arrested and sent to the same tower. The plot thickens as he helps her escape. He was met with many challenges, but his best friend Tim helped him always, what a faithful friend! I absolutely love and adore this story because it’s based on history and real life facts, these things actually happened! But when you read it, the author has written it so well it almost sounds like a fantasy! I can’t wait to read more, it’s such a great book, I give it 5 stars but really it deserves 10! Highly recommend!

Don't let this great middle grade book escape you.
Format: Paperback
I am an Anglophile and love the history of England. This book was an incredible read and fed my addiction fully with Renaissance England inspired history and fiction featuring Ben, a 15 year of commoner and an accidental hero who finds himself a prison let working the Tower’s dreadful jail. This spry has short chapters that will appeal to children with a short attention span, and the storyline like the other installment feature children using real life problem solving skills as they help others. This is an overall great read and highly recommended.
