The Nineplus Magic Carpet:

Handmade using

  • US Blanks,
  • Wedge dyed foam t-band,
  • Offset glue lines,
  • Volan glass & deck patch
  • Gloss & Polish

Basically, a Longboard with the center 2½ft chopped out, the 'Magic Carpet' is the board of choice for many reasons. It has the same width in the nose, tail and center point as a traditional Longboard, meaning it paddles and picks up waves very easily while remaining stable in the bigger waves and pulling power out of the smaller ones. In contrast to a longboard however the reduced rail line allows you to turn much tighter and so the boards feels more responsive.

The rounded pintail keeps the board in the face of the wave while the full rails keep the board buoyant and smooth through the turns. We use a bespoke ‘Magic Carpet’ blank to get the board as flat as possible which enables it to paddle, catch waves & trim easily. The ‘Magic Carpet’ also draws as much speed as possible from the wave as a flat rocker keeps the flat surface of the bottom connected to the power within the wave. The Magic Carpet also has a lot of volume throughout and this is carried right through to the nose & tail. There is just enough lift left in the nose to avoid pearling (nosediving) while keeping the board working.

The ‘Magic Carpet’ is one of the most copied shapes in the market. Nineplus have been creating them since 2000 when ‘Kevin ‘Magic Feet’ Connelly’ designed it. Now a registered trademark Nineplus offer the original, imported from California. From some of the finest resin tint work & volan glassing through to more classic white finish. This board has become one of the most recognized in the market as they are simply one of the most fun to ride, travel with, put in the car, lend to the Mrs, surf when its small, ride on an average day, ride all the time, wait til you try it.

Easy Read with good case studies!!
Format: Paperback
I had to purchase this for my Advanced Pathophysiology class in my Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program. It is very easy to understand and have pretty good case studies. I like that the CD that accompanies the book goes into some detail in explaining the cases further and the disease processes without giving you the answers to the questions. It stimulates one to think!! Once this class is over I will go back from time to time to review!!

Helpful
Format: Paperback
This is a nice compliment to other classroom instruction materials. I am teaching an advanced pathophysiology course in a nurse practitioner program. This book is very helpful for students to put together the concepts of patho with the clinical setting. Will use these for in-class group assignments. Case-studies are thorough and offer a variety of different disease processes to choose from. It certainly does not offer a case study for every possible disease or clinical scenario, but does cover most major areas and enough variety in my opinion. Should be helpful in reinforcing the clinical significance of some difficult to understand concepts. I would recommend this text to course instructors.

Good book!
Format: Paperback
Very helpful book for pathophysiology. The CD not only gives you answers to the case studies but gives you clear details of the clinical Pathophysiology of a particular disease. Definitely recommend it to students going for their Master's degree!

No Answers Provided to Case Studies
Format: Paperback
The cases are helpful; however, realize that there are NO answers whatsoever to the questions presented in the cases--not a huge problem I suppose, b/c you can google everything, but certainly an annoyance. (esp. when there are multiple possible answers. The author states in the foreword that some of the cases are real; in which case, why not provide the justification presented in the patient's chart as to why that patient takes a particular drug, esp. considering that you may take a drug for its side effects rather than its therapeutic effect. . .anyhow. . ) I think if the author provided at least SOME insight/guidance to the cases that it would be much more helpful, but until then, I'm skeptical as to why others gave this book 5 stars.
