A ductile iron base adds strength, and a coat of electrostatic paint provides rust protection. Other features include a heat-treated extension screw that increases height to get full use of ram travel, overload and bypass safety valves that prevent the jack from being used beyond its rated capacity and ram over-extension, and a self-retracting ram.
