Straight-up nighttime recovery with magnesium, theanine, valerian, and lavender

Jocko Fuel | Jocko Hydrate is like a nightly recovery drink that helps you relax and sleep better, not just a basic hydration mix or some overloaded secret blend. The idea is simple: pair solid mineral support for muscle and nerve relaxation with a few amino acids and herbs to ease you from stressed-out mode into bedtime mode. Plus, the label shows every dose—no hidden blends covering up weak amounts.

The base is 200mg magnesium as magnesium aspartate. Magnesium is a top mineral in supplements, helping with over 300 reactions in your body like energy production, nerve function, and muscle control. It blocks calcium in muscles, which can make you feel less tense and more relaxed at night. Studies often look at 320–420mg daily for magnesium, so 200mg isn't your full day's worth, but it's a good chunk for a bedtime drink, especially with the other ingredients.

There's 5mg vitamin B6 as pyridoxine HCl. B6 helps process amino acids and make neurotransmitters, like those for serotonin and melatonin. It's not the star here at 5mg, but it backs up the amino acids in the mix.

Zinc comes in at 10mg as zinc picolinate, a form that's easy for your body to absorb because picolinic acid helps it get through your gut better than basic forms. Research usually tests 15–30mg for zinc supplements, so 10mg is under that for a full dose, but it fits well in this nighttime setup.

Jocko Fuel Hydrate by Jocko Fuel contains 100mg Vitamin C, a effective dose for muscle recovery and growth.

Key Highlights

  • 200mg Magnesium as Magnesium Aspartate — this is a solid dose of an easy-to-absorb magnesium that helps relax your muscles and nerves, supports energy processes, and aids recovery. It's not the full 320–420mg you'd take daily on its own, but it's plenty for a bedtime mix you use every night.
  • 100mg L-Theanine — right at the low end of what studies back, and it's super reliable for cutting stress and helping you feel calm and focused. At night, it means less brain buzz and an easier slide into rest, no melatonin needed.
  • 150mg Valerian Root Extract Standardized for Valeric Acid — the standardization means you get a real active amount, not just filler herb. Valerian helps you fall asleep faster and calms your nerves, pairing great with theanine and lavender.
  • 100mg Lavender Flower Extract — more than just a nice smell; it actually helps with calm and stress relief for better sleep. In this mix, it makes you feel more settled, especially if stress is keeping you up.
  • 100mg L-Tryptophan — this turns into serotonin and melatonin in your body. Real talk: 100mg is way under the 1,000–5,000mg doses in sleep studies, so it's here to support, not drive the whole thing.
  • 250mg Tart Cherry — a smart add for recovery with its polyphenols that help after workouts and might boost sleep. Not a massive dose, but it turns this into a recovery drink, not just a sleep aid.
  • 10mg Zinc as Zinc Picolinate — picolinate absorbs better than cheap forms. It's below the usual 15–30mg for standalone zinc, but it works well with magnesium and B6 for nighttime recovery.
  • 5mg Vitamin B6 — smart for helping with amino acids and making neurotransmitters like serotonin and melatonin. It's not carrying the load; it's making the rest of the ingredients work better together.

Who Is This For?

  • Evening gym guys who hit it hard after work and can't switch off. 200mg magnesium aspartate, 100mg L-theanine, valerian, and lavender help downshift post-session better than more stims that delay sleep.
  • Shift workers or stressed pros with a buzzing brain keeping them up, even when tired. L-theanine and lavender tackle the mental side, magnesium handles muscle tension so your body catches up.
  • Athletes who sleep enough hours but wake up beat. This focuses on quality sleep and recovery with tart cherry and magnesium, not just forcing you out.
  • Everyday folks wanting a clear-label nighttime powder over mystery blends. Doses are all shown, so you know what's real, what's backup, and how it fits your routine.
  • People who skip melatonin but want sleep help. It uses aminos, minerals, and herbs for relaxation without melatonin.
  • Adults with tight muscles, leftover stress, or that wired-tired vibe at night. Magnesium relaxes muscles, theanine calms the mind—fits that spot on.

How to Use

Mix 1 stick with 8–12 ounces of cold water and drink 30–60 minutes before bed. That timing lets theanine, valerian, lavender, and magnesium start working before you're frustrated in bed. If you're new to calming supps, try half for a couple nights to check valerian response. Shaker's best for mixing, but stirring works if you go at it. Avoid with a super full stomach to feel it quicker; post-dinner but not stuffed is ideal. Pairs great with protein or creatine for overall recovery, but don't mix with other sleep aids unless you know your limits. No need to cycle—no stims or tolerance issues. Store cool and dry, and keep timing steady for better nightly flow.

What to Expect

First 10 minutes, it's just a regular drink—no buzz since there's zero stims. By 20–40 minutes, you'll feel less mental static from the 100mg L-theanine, with lavender and valerian helping you settle. At 45–60 minutes, it's easier to call it a night and get ready for bed. Day one is subtle, no big knockout. First week, steady use makes winding down more routine. Over 2–4 weeks, the routine plus magnesium and recovery stuff pay off big. It's for consistent use, not one-off fixes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Jocko Fuel | Jocko Hydrate actually a sleep formula?

Based on the verified active panel provided here, yes. The formula centers on 200mg magnesium aspartate, 100mg L-theanine, 150mg valerian root extract, 100mg lavender extract, 100mg L-tryptophan, 250mg tart cherry, 10mg zinc picolinate, and 5mg vitamin B6—ingredients that fit a nighttime recovery and sleep-support use case, not a standard hydration product.

Does this product contain caffeine or other stimulants?

No stimulant source appears in the verified active formula listed here. There is no caffeine, no guarana, no tea extract, and no obvious stimulant ingredient, so this is aligned with nighttime use.

How much magnesium is in each serving, and is it enough?

Each stick pack provides 200mg magnesium as magnesium aspartate. That is a meaningful dose for a bedtime formula, though it is below the common standalone supplemental range of roughly 320–420mg elemental magnesium per day, so it works best as part of a total daily intake strategy rather than the sole source for correcting a major deficiency.

Is the L-tryptophan dose strong enough to be effective on its own?

At 100mg, L-tryptophan is below the 1,000–5,000mg range commonly used in sleep studies. It makes mechanistic sense as a supportive ingredient, especially with vitamin B6 present, but it should not be viewed as the formula’s primary standalone sleep driver.

What ingredient will I feel the most from this formula?

For most users, the most noticeable acute effect will come from 100mg L-theanine paired with valerian and lavender. That combination is more likely to feel like reduced mental tension and an easier wind-down rather than a heavy sedative effect.

How long before bed should I take it?

A practical starting point is 30–60 minutes before bed. That gives the calming ingredients enough time to begin shaping your pre-sleep state before you are already in bed trying to force sleep.

Can I stack this with melatonin?

You can, but start cautiously. This formula is intentionally non-melatonin-based, so if you add melatonin on top, begin with the lowest practical dose to avoid overshooting into next-morning grogginess.

Is this formula fully transparent?

Yes. There are no proprietary blends in the verified formula provided here, and every active ingredient is listed with its dose. That is a real advantage in a category where many labels obscure weak dosages behind blend totals.

Can I take this every night?

Yes, this is structured for consistent nightly use. Magnesium support, routine reinforcement, and the non-stimulant design all make regular use more logical than occasional emergency-only dosing.

Who should be careful with this formula?

Anyone taking sedatives, antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, or serotonin-related medications should speak with a healthcare professional first because the formula contains valerian, theanine, lavender, and L-tryptophan. Pregnant or nursing women and anyone under 18 should also avoid self-prescribing it.

The best for sensitive skin and sensitive noses
Style: SPF 50, Size: 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This is the absolute best sunscreen I have found for my super reactive sensitive skin. I have never had any issues with this sunscreen and it prevents sunburn well. I am also super sensitive to smells and this doesn’t smell like anything to me. It gives a really pretty glow to your skin as an added bonus.

Don't leave home without it!
Style: SPF 50, Size: 10 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This sunscreen has been a lifesaver for me. I'm an avid kayaker, have a very fair complexion and hate wearing hats, so I'd be toast (literally) without this. I'm also now allergic to fragrance and several commonly used preservatives, so to find that this sunscreen has no fragrance and none of the suspect additives was a joy. It goes on lightly, rubs in easily and seems to really hold up protecting my skin for 2-3 hour trips on the lake. I never leave home without it. The only drawback I have is that it's sometimes cumbersome, or difficult to get the top to line up correctly in order to spray it and it can be unwieldy trying to do this with one hand. I haven't found anything better, and really appreciate that it's available and not at an outrageous price either.

spray top lids fail after a few uses
Style: SPF 50, Size: 10 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This sunscreen is awesome. It stays on for a long time, even when swimming. It has almost no odor, which is great if you don't want to walk around with that summer sun screen smell. The reason I am giving this only one star is because of the canister. The spray top lid is very hard to press, and only works a few times before completely jamming, rendering the product useless. This is a huge problem if you are taking it on a river float, or camping where you can't just run out to the store and get another one if it stops working. I love this sunscreen and I really wish I could make it my summer go to, but have had so many of the lids malfunction that I will never buy this product again. It is expensive for sunscreen. They should figure out their packaging.

a fave
Style: SPF 50, Size: 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Disappears into skin quickly, feels like nothing, looks like nothing (no white residue, streaks or discoloration). The fragrance free truly is. I reapply after a couple of hours or prolonged time in salt water even though I don't _feel_ like I need to (I'm not naturally pale) and have not had any burns since I started using Alba products, whereas before, I got occasional burns even from the better, former favorite, brands. I love this brand and the products are prominent on my subscribe and save lists. Once in a blue moon, the spray lid sticks and the can goes in the trash. BUT this happens once in a blue moon with just about every brand I've tried.

Great, when the can works
Style: SPF 50, Size: 5 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This is the only sunscreen I buy anymore. Clear, easy to use and no significant smell. Plus air powered spray and biodegradable. No of which matters, though, when the can won't spray at all or just gives a weak spray that leaves sunscreen in wet spots or no coverage on your arms. Too expensive to not work.
