In 2022, in the very first days of the war, this endearing Jack Russell terrier, together with the family of Hryhorii Falkovych, left Kyiv and ended up in western Ukraine, seemingly beyond the reach of Russian missiles. As a beloved pet, Rudy experiences the war along with the humans around him: in times of danger, he runs to shelter; he cheers for 'all-clear' signals; he supports his fellow refugees, making friends with local dogs and getting to know cats and birds; he watches TV; he walks with his master through the streets of the old city of Kolomyia; he thinks about difficult life problems and dreams of victory and peace, of human and canine happiness.
