The man wears a waistcoat and a cartridge belt over his thobe (long shirt), and a ghutra (headscarf). The camel stands in profile, facing towards the left. It is saddled with an Omani style wooden saddle. In the background is a low rock mound. Trees, bushes and grasses grow in the sand surrounding them. This image was taken during April 6-30, 1948, when Wilfred Thesiger stayed at Al Muwaiji fort in Al Ain as a guest of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
