From cooking to bottling, everything is done on site at the Garrison Brothers distillery, or as they call it their “ranch,”in Hye, Texas. Founded by brothers Dan and Charlie Garrison in 2006, Garrison Brothers distillery produces a range of luxury whiskey. In addition to being granted the first stiller’s permit for Bourbon outside of Kentucky, Garrison Brothers is one of the founding members of the Texas Whiskey Association whose aim is “to promote Texas Whiskey, educate consumers and support distilleries that produce whiskey all within the territorial boundaries of the State of Texas” reads the TXWA’s website. 

Aged in barrel barns instead of traditional rick houses, Garrison Brother’s Bourbon is aged for at least three Texas summers which, due to the large temperature fluctuations, allows for a lot of barrel extraction. 

Barrel #9785 was distilled & barreled in October of 2016 and was bottled exclusively for Vintage Wine and Spirits in late 2022 or early 2023 at a cask strength of 134.8 proof! 

We would be remiss not to mention just how dark this Bourbon is in glass! The closest descriptor we have for colour on this Garrison Brothers single barrel is burnt brown leather, or burnt cherry red. 

This Bourbon smells of cherry cola, cassia bark, subtle hints of vanilla, and a touch of caramel. While not extremely complex, it’s very decadent. The taste profile is similar, but with a heavier taste of the cassia bark, and a more bitter finish. It tastes almost like an Amburana barrel. 

Only 4 cases of this bad boy were left when bottled, so if you like rich, high proof, and decadent Texas Bourbon this bottle needs a place in your home bar!
