Achieve Flawless Decorative Edges with the Freud Classical Cove and Bead Router Bit

The Freud 38-622 1-1/8" Cove and Bead Router Bit is a professional-grade solution for woodworkers looking to add sophisticated, traditional profiles to their projects. This bit creates a unique decorative edge that combines a smooth concave cove with a refined bead, perfect for adding distinctive character to cabinet doors, furniture perimeters, plaques, and custom millwork. Whether you are building heirloom-quality furniture or detailed architectural trim, this bit provides the precision and durability required for a flawless finish.

Engineered with Freud's patented Quadra-Cut technology, this bit utilizes four cutting edges instead of the standard two to produce an extra-fine finish that requires virtually no sanding. Two large cutters perform the primary stock removal, while two smaller, upward-shearing cutters provide a secondary polish for cross-grain applications. Protected by a non-stick Perma-SHIELD® Coating, the 38-622 effectively reduces blade drag and prevents heat collection, protecting the tool from corrosion and pitch buildup while ensuring a long service life in hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, and composites.

Key Features

  • Quadra-Cut™ Design: Patented four-cutter geometry ensures a glass-smooth finish even in complex cross-grain applications.
  • Perma-SHIELD® Coating: Non-stick red coating protects the bit from heat, resin buildup, and corrosion for extended tool life.
  • TiCo™ Hi-Density Carbide: Custom-formulated industrial carbide provides maximum durability and maintains a razor-sharp edge longer.
  • Versatile Decorative Detail: Ideal for adding high-end profiles to cabinets, molding, furniture, and plaques.
  • Multi-Material Compatibility: Effortlessly cuts through solid hardwoods, softwoods, plywoods, and composition materials.
  • Universal Setup: Fully optimized for high-performance use in both hand-held and table-mounted portable routers.

What's Included

  • (1) Freud 38-622 1-1/8" Cove and Bead Router Bit (1/4" Shank)

Pro-Tip: For a truly professional finish on high-profile decorative edges, perform your routing in multiple shallow passes rather than one deep cut. Stuff They Don't Teach You In Church
Format: Paperback
Fawn Brodie did her research and cites primarily sources from LDS sources such as journals from people who knew Joseph Smith and from Joseph Smith himself. I trust that the information is reliable. I learned more about Joseph Smith than I was ever taught in Sunday School or LDS seminary. Fawn Brodie does speculate in some areas, such as Joseph's motives but she supports her assumptions with evidence, again, from primary sources. It was a quick read for me. I did have to get out a dictionary at some places, which is rare for me. Brodie paints a picture of the Joseph Smith that very few people knew. I enjoyed reading this book. I recommend it for LDS church members who want to know the history of one of enigmatic people in history, the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The book points out not just the negative aspects of Joseph's life but Brodie balances it with the positive. Unlike Charles Manson, Jim Jones, or David Koresh, Joseph Smith truly cared about his followers and treated people well. I don't like how he seduced women, however and that detracts from his character. I do think he was a con man, however.

A very accessible classic
Format: Paperback
I chose this translation on the recommendation of a good friend who is also a professor of English. I wanted something that was true to the spirit of the work and not necessarily tied to the exact meter and rhyme of the original just for the sake of maintaining both. I was not disappointed. What struck me most was the imagery of the translation. As I read, I could see the scenes and felt that I was there, experiencing the plot. This tale has many of the elements of the current popular "superhero" genre of movies. Properly done, it would make an excellent film. Read it and enjoy!

Luminous Translation
This translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is rich in color, full of action, written with respect for the original poetry (in a Northern dialect of Middle English that partakes heavily of Old English and Old Norse influences). The richness of the story, the surroundings (both natural and courtly), and the vivid descriptions of hunting and fighting, make this very important knightly adventure jump off the page.

Laudable Work, with One Reservation
Format: Paperback
I appreciate Mr. Winny's time and efforts to produce a "bilingual" edition of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. No stranger to the pitfalls of poetic translation, I prefer to have the original side-by-side with the modern English language rendering, as you get with this book. That way, I can quiet the academic growl in my head that remains skeptical of the inevitable poetic license the translator--by necessity--must take to adapt ancient words into modern parlance. My only complaint is that since the poem in its original is half the appeal of what this book promises, why modernize the letters? The Gawain poet's Middle English is already much more obscure to the modern reader than Chaucer's. Why not retain the yogh, the thorn, etc.? The target audience is already willing to climb the mountain, so why lop off the peak?

One of my favs
Format: Paperback
Gawain and the Green Knight is one of my favorite Arthurian Legends. This version has Middle English and Modern English translations side-by-side, which is loads of fun to follow. Let's just say this copy is well read.
