About Unraveling, Melting, Vanishing

My first sculpture is meant to be confrontational.

I was searching for a way to make the painting come at you to break the wall between art and viewer. The stacked triangular prisms let me do just that, pointing directly outward, asking you not just to look, but to engage.

On one side, Little Dude is enjoying a peaceful hike or paddle, a familiar, joyful moment in nature. On the other side, that same landscape begins to unravel… melting, vanishing, slipping away. It’s a visual reminder that our favorite outdoor rituals rely on an intact, thriving natural world.

This sculpture is meant to be honest and empowering. As we melt into the moment doing what we love, we have to remember to fiercely protect the wild spaces that make it all possible: the clean water, fresh air, and open trails that Little Dude (and the rest of us) call home.
