Victron MultiPlus-II GX: Integrated Inverter/Charger with Built-in Monitoring for 48V Systems

Professional-Grade Power Conversion with Advanced Energy Management

The Victron MultiPlus-II GX combines a pure sine wave inverter, adaptive battery charger, and automatic transfer switch in a single compact unit, now with an integrated GX controller for local and remote system oversight. Designed for demanding off-grid, backup, and hybrid energy applications, it delivers reliable AC power from a 48V battery bank while intelligently managing grid or generator input. With PowerControl and PowerAssist technology, the unit prevents AC source overload by automatically reducing charge current or supplementing shore power with battery energy during peak demand, making it ideal for installations with limited supply capacity.

Engineered for Australian conditions, the MultiPlus-II GX operates across a wide temperature range from -40°C to +65°C with fan-assisted cooling, ensuring consistent performance in harsh environments. Its high-frequency design achieves up to 95% maximum efficiency, minimising energy loss and reducing heat buildup in confined spaces such as vehicle compartments or equipment rooms.

Built-in GX Controller for Seamless Monitoring and Control

Unlike standard inverter/chargers that require external monitoring hardware, the MultiPlus-II GX features an integrated GX device with a backlit LCD display, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and VE.Direct connectivity. This allows direct access to Victron's VRM portal for real-time performance tracking, remote firmware updates, and automated alerts without additional components. The built-in Battery Monitor function enables autonomous system operation based on voltage, load, or state of charge, while programmable relays and digital inputs support custom automation sequences such as generator start/stop or load shedding.

Uninterrupted Power with Dual AC Outputs

Two AC outputs provide intelligent load management: the primary output supplies continuous power to critical loads with a near-instantaneous transfer time, while the auxiliary output can disconnect non-essential loads when operating on battery power alone. This configuration allows high-consumption devices like water heaters to run only when grid or generator power is available, preserving battery capacity for essential equipment.

Adaptive Charging for Maximum Battery Life

The integrated charger supports lithium, lead-acid, and other battery chemistries with adaptive 4-stage charging, temperature compensation, and BatterySafe mode to prevent over-gassing. Lithium batteries are integrated via BMS-Can or SmallBMS interfaces for precise charge control and cell-level protection. Storage mode reduces float voltage to minimise self-discharge during extended periods of inactivity, extending overall battery service life.

Scalable Architecture for Growing Energy Demands

The MultiPlus-II GX supports parallel and three-phase configurations, allowing multiple units to be combined for higher output or split-phase operation. This scalability makes it suitable for everything from single-phase off-grid cabins to large commercial backup systems. VE.Bus communication ensures synchronised operation and centralised monitoring across all connected units.

Key Features

  • Integrated GX controller with LCD display, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and VRM portal access
  • PowerControl and PowerAssist prevent AC source overload and supplement limited grid/generator input
  • Dual AC outputs with programmable load management for critical and non-essential circuits
  • Adaptive 4-stage charger compatible with lithium, lead-acid, and other battery types
  • Parallel and three-phase capable for scalable system design
  • Wide operating temperature range (-40°C to +65°C) with fan-assisted cooling
  • Programmable relay and digital inputs for custom automation and generator start/stop
  • IP21 steel enclosure with M8 battery connections and 13mm² AC terminals

Applications

  • Off-grid homes and cabins requiring reliable 230V AC power from 48V battery banks
  • Marine and RV installations with limited shore power capacity
  • Hybrid solar and battery storage systems with grid export and backup capability
  • Backup power for critical equipment in commercial or industrial settings
  • Remote telecommunications and monitoring sites needing autonomous operation

Peak power of 7 kW for 1 minute handles motor starting surges and short-term overloads without tripping.

Charge current of 55 A at 25°C enables rapid recharging of large battery banks, reducing generator run time in off-grid scenarios.

Experience the reliability and intelligence of Victron's integrated power solution. Configure your MultiPlus-II GX today for uninterrupted energy management wherever you need it.

Not good if you need Whole Foods gift cards
If you want to buy Whole Foods gift cards (which is why I got it) it flags it for fraud and doesnt let you. I was told you can spend at Whole Foods but not buy WF gift cards, even though it is a Prime Credit Card. Also if you buy WF gift cards online, you dont get the rewards since its from a gift card company and not Whole Foods.

A Truly Ergonomic Mouse
Number of Items: 1
Other not completely flat mice claim to be "ergonomic", but the only way to completely remove stress from your forearm when using a mouse is with a "vertical" mouse. My 2020 K75575WW Kensington ergonomic vertical mouse developed a problem with the left button "stuttering" so that it sent multiple button clicks when pressed just once. I liked the Kensington quite a bit. But it always just a little bit on the "not quite as solid as I would like" side, and failing after just 2.5 years confirmed this. So I wanted a more solidly build mouse. A search for "ergonomic mouse review" showed that the Logitech MX Master 3S was clearly the best ergonomic mouse available. At $100 it was several times more expensive as others including the latest Kensington vertical mouse. But sometimes furgal doesn't mean the least expensive. Sometimes it can mean the most expensive if that comes with better performance, features and lifespan. So I ordered it. And while it is indeed an incredible mouse, the angle is only about 20 degrees. The result is that while there is some reduction in forearm stress compared to a flat mouse, it wasn't enough for me. By the end of my very long days driving my mouse almost as much as I drive my keyboard, I could feel the tension building up in my forearm. So after a week I returned it and bought this Logitech MX Vertical. It is slightly less expensive than the MX Master 3S, but still much more expensive relative to other options. And while it is lighter and a little less substantial feeling in my hand than the MX Master 3S, it still feels very firm and solid. Most importantly keeps my hand in the neutral position with my fingers at about 70 degrees. A great feature of the MX Vertical shares with the MX Master 3S is the thumb rest. The Kensington didn't have this and so my thumb rested on the desktop. If it was a bit warm and my hands would sweat my thumb wouldn't slide smoothly and I would have to lift my thumb off the desk when I went to move the mouse. Not a horrible thing, but if you spend 8+ hours mousing around it gets tiresome. The button clicks are crisp. Best of all when the button bottoms out it feels like it is pressing against the case. It doesn't feel like travel is being limited by the switch itself bottoming out like the Kensington felt like it did. My hope is that this will keep the switch from wearing out so fast as happened with the Kensington. One slight negative of the MX Vertical is that I don't feel like I am quite as accurate in being able to move the cursor to a specific spot on the screen without some amount of conscious effort. Instead it doesn't go exactly in the direction I intended and overshoots where wanted it to stop. As such it might not make the best mouse for video games. [UPDATE: There is a bit of a learning curve in moving the mouse accurately. In the last couple weeks my need to make a more conscious effort to move the mouse to a specific spot on the screen is going down. Still think it is likely to not be as accurate as a flater mouse]
