One of our most beloved tents has evolved to encompass Coleman's patented BlackOut Bedroom design. The Octagon BlackOut provides a full 360° view of your surroundings. Ample living space and the ingenious hinged door gives it a homely feel on the campsite.

This spacious tent has a multitude of uses, it can be dressed as a luxury glamping bedroom, a playroom for the kids or a perfect tent for festival gatherings. The flysheet can be removed and the Octagon BlackOut transforms into a bug-proof screened room perfect for the garden.

The tent comes with a wheeled carry bag and packs down compactly for easy transportation and storage.

BlackOut Bedroom® blocks up to 99% of daylight from entering the sleeping area, helping you get a longer and more restful sleep - whatever time of day.

Manage ther Temperature

Keep your bedroom up to 5°C cooler during the day and up to 1°C warmer during the night. Coleman patent pending BlackOut Bedroom helps you to manage the temperature in your bedroom by storing energy from the sun in the surface of the fabric.

Weather Tec - Comfort and Protection when Enjoying the Outdoors

fabric's waterproof properties are measured using a rating called its hydrostatic head. If a tent has a hydrostatic head of 3000mm it means that a 3 metre column of water can be placed on its surface before any drops will show through the underside of the fabric. (The Ministry of Defence in the UK classifies fabric with a hydrostatic head of 800mm+ as waterproof).

There are many other factors which influence the performance of tent in tough weather conditions. Coleman use the latest technology and a rigorous testing regime to ensure that we keep you protected at all times - whatever the weather.

UV Guard - Sun Protection

Certified laboratory testing proves Coleman® UVGuard protection fabrics with an SPF50 provide excellent protection against the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Proper use of sunscreen combined with shelters made with UVGuard protection fabric can go a long way in the battle against sunburn and UV exposure.

Fire Retardant - Safety First

The fire retardant characteristic of our material ensures that the fabric will not flare dangerously out of control and will self extinguish, giving time to escape in the event of an emergency.

First off, I have read over half of this book, but ultimately decided to put it down because it had a low signal-to-noise ratio. If the second half is filled with magic, I apologize in advance. What I liked: * The author is very honest. He does not shy away from discussing his failures (and successes). * The postmortem on the game "Life of Pixel" was especially good. * Interviews from various indie studios are sprinkled throughout. What I did not like: * A number of pieces of information were already out-of-date. This makes me think that the concepts should have been discussed at a higher level. For example, specifics about game engine costs are discussed. These numbers have changed since E3 of this year. Definitely recheck any information before formulating a plan based on the book's recommendations. * The indie studio interviews are a wasted opportunity in that they each interview has the same set of questions. It's like a questionnaire was sent out via email and the responses were pasted into the book. * When discussing commercial options, such as engines or other software packages, blurbs once again appear to be cut-and-pasted (this time verbatim from the package's web site). * Some of the advice is too broad and too light. For example, when writing about how to create a press release, the author discuss how to write in the active voice. I'm frankly not looking for writing tips in my Indie Game Developer Handbook. * The book is filled with tons of web links. My paperback copy was not so useful here. I ultimately left the book with the impression that the information would have been much better in the form of a blog. The author could have really gone in depth with the parts of the book that shined while keeping the surveys of topics in a form that serves them better (i.e. web links on the web).
