Maya Angelou was a poet, dancer, singer, activist, scholar, and world-famous author. She influenced politicians, celebrities, and the world. She encouraged us to “take life by the lapels,” to face your trials and hardships. She suffered from a young age, being raped and abused, and going mute for five years as a result.
