Belonging to Caroline Chinakwe’s latest project ‘Colourism’, this piece seeks to combat the problematic ideals attached to the beauty within the black community.

The collection seeks to tackle the harmful ideologies surrounding race and color that foster and reinforce the supremacy of European beauty standards.

This piece explores the sad reality of colorism whilst inviting onlookers to embrace the beauty of all skin tones. 

Each piece is a digital collage created through multiple artistic mediums. Using different features and skin tones of various women adorned with jewellery, opulent hairstyles and headwear showcasing the artistry intrinsic to the identity of black women. The subjects are set against a background of vivid and brilliant wallpapers which emphasise the beauty in nature, and in turn the beauty in all of us.
