The Bobb flag, or USA 250 Flag is a version of the American flag to commemorate the United States Semiquincentennial or 250-year anniversary, from which it derives its name. Designed by vexillologist Jason Bobb in 2020, the flag design takes inspiration from the Bennington Flag designed by Nathaniel Fillmore and gives a modern interpretation of the flag intended to reflect on where we have been as a country, where we are presently, and positively inspire all who sees it, to the future and continued greatness of the dream that is America.

Canton Area & Horseshoe Shape Significance
The blue field, or canton of the Bobb flag, was reduced in height compared to the Bennington flag, to match the current blue canton height of the current US 50-Star flag, representing a modern America in the new world. The same 7-point stars are used instead of standard 5-point stars, not only as a hat-tip to the Bennington flag & Washington Headquarters flag, but to also represent the 7 nails used traditionally to hold a horseshoe in place.  A 13 Star design is also used in the blue canton area to represent the original 13 colonies, much like the Bennington Flag, but reconfigured and updated in the shape of a horseshoe.  The horseshoe shape, and its orientation upwards represents the innate ability to fill up with good luck, warding off evils, and bringing good fortune to the country in the future. The horseshoe’s circular arrangement signifies equality, with its opening representing open arms accepting all into itself. The horseshoe also represents strength and solidarity on a global scale with our Allied countries and partners, as it is used by soldiers in the front lines of war and nailed with 7 nails to the posts of Navy vessels at sea.  The horseshoe shape also represents the definition of truth in the Material Conditional. Which reminds us all that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Stripes
The 13 alternating stripes of the Bobb flag symbolize the 13 US Colonies.  The stripes are arranged to have white stripes (7), be at the outermost edges and the red stripes (6) on the inside.  A variation of the Sons of Liberty Flag, the Red stripes representing valor, and bloodshed on the battlefield, hardiness of victory in war by honoring our current and veteran military personnel and their families who gave the ultimate sacrifice, to which our country owes its greatest honor. White stripes representing liberty, purity, and innocence.

Meaning
The USA 250 Flag is designed to be politically & religiously agnostic.  It was designed to commemorate the great achievement of the United States of America celebrating its 250-year Semiquincentennial anniversary.  Any additional meaning associated with this flag is unintended outside those stated here.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character.
