Built in 1938, LMS 6229 Duchess of Hamilton stands among Britain’s most celebrated steam locomotives—an enduring symbol of luxury rail travel, Art Deco elegance, and British engineering at its finest. Designed for the prestigious LMS express services of the late 1930s, Duchess of Hamilton became one of the true icons of the golden age of steam, admired for both its streamlined beauty and remarkable performance.

Now celebrated for the first time on an official UK coin, this remarkable tribute features a wonderfully detailed reverse design by Gary Breeze, created in partnership with the National Science Museum Group. Complete with the edge inscription ‘LMS PRINCESS CORONATION CLASS 6229’ and accompanied by richly detailed packaging that brings the locomotive’s fascinating story to life, this release is a fitting tribute to one of Britain’s greatest railway legends.

Sturdy. Everything came in one piece and the instructions were some of the clearest I've encountered for Amazon furniture. Took about an hour for me to muscle my way through with manual screwdrivers only. I do not recommend a drill unless you go slow, because screw placement will make or break this for you in my opinion. Problems I encountered and how I overcame them: Drawer was rickety, kept catching when trying to pull out. I had to go back and tighten the tiny black screws on the rails. If they are not as flush as you can possibly get them, they will cause the wheels to catch. Once I got them as tight as possible, the drawer pull out was much smoother. Getting the first set of rails on. Space was EXTREMELY tight and frustrating. I ended up using a small screwdriver from my house, pressing it tightly with one hand, and using a pair of pliers to turn the screwdriver. Like a socket wrench type action. This sucked, I can't lie. And it wasn't possible to put them on earlier due to the cam bolts/screws under the rail. But I got through it. Overall, this is worth the money as long as you are willing to take your time and line things up properly and really use some elbow grease to get the screws in straight and flush.
