"My mother was an art teacher. She loved ladybugs, and I kept some of her old notebooks which have them doodled throughout," says Jordan. "That is what inspired me to draw my own lady bug which ultimately turned into this pattern."

Behind the Art: Meet Jordan Kempain

Every Kempain Original begins as an original hand-drawn illustration. Jordan has been designing and illustrating professionally since 2009, bringing nearly two decades of industry experience to every piece in the collection. His career began in marketing agencies across Connecticut, New York City, and Washington, D.C., but his real inspiration has always been nature.

A graduate of the University of Hartford’s Art School and an active outdoorsman, Jordan draws directly from his time spent in the woods and gardens of Putnam, Connecticut, to inform every stroke of his pen.
