DESCRIPTION

Alice Cisternino creates ethereal compositions, here in this moment but likely to shift in the next. She is compelled by moments of transition, delicate yet unavoidable shifts, the multitude of parts that make up a structure and then how these can break apart and find new configurations. In Dance, a line enters the composition and then meets up with others. They become entwined and tangled until one makes its way out at the top of the picture. It is a metaphor for an individual finding their way in the world.

Alice earned her MFA from UCLA with a Painting and Drawing Concentration in 2005. She holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania in Religious Studies, Art History and Fine Arts. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally
