L240 Galaxy Pleco Leporacanthicus cf GalaxiasOverview: The L240 Galaxy Pleco, known scientifically as Leporacanthicus cf. Galaxias, captivates aquarists with its stunning appearance, featuring a dark body sprinkled with white to light yellow spots that resemble a starry night sky. This medium-sized pleco reaches up to about 10 inches in length, making it a noticeable addition to any freshwater aquarium.
Origin: Native to the fast-flowing, clear waters of the Orinoco River basin in Venezuela, the Galaxy Pleco thrives in environments with strong currents and plenty of hiding spaces. Their natural habitat influences their care requirements in home aquariums, emphasizing the need for clean, well-oxygenated water.
Feeding: Primarily carnivorous, the Galaxy Pleco's diet should consist of a variety of high-quality protein sources. This includes frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and krill, supplemented with occasional vegetable offerings. Prepared sinking pellets and wafers formulated for carnivorous species are also excellent for ensuring a balanced diet.
Tank Mates: Galaxy Plecos are generally peaceful with most tank mates, particularly those that occupy the upper parts of the water column. They are best kept with similarly sized fish or larger, non-aggressive species. Small, overly active fish may stress them, while very large or territorial fish could pose a threat.
Aggression: While peaceful towards most species, they can exhibit territorial behavior towards other bottom dwellers, especially other plecos. Providing ample space and multiple hiding spots can help minimize aggression.
Experience Level: Due to their specific care requirements and sensitivity to water quality, Galaxy Plecos are recommended for intermediate to advanced aquarists. Knowledge of maintaining stable water conditions and a commitment to regular tank maintenance are essential.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 77-82°F (25-28°C)
- pH: 6.5-7.5
- Hardness: 5-15 dGH
- Strong water flow and excellent filtration are crucial to mimic their natural habitat and keep them healthy.

Is not as durable as they say for large dogs
Color: Multi-colored
My dog loved the fact he got a new toy and he loved the toy itself. Carrying it around and shaking it, that is.
The ropes are small and pop right back out of the ball. They are more for a small dog to tug on. The suction is strong but still not strong enough for a 100 lbs Rotti. He kept grabbing the eleasic ropes and pulling off the floor.

Even the rope is awesome!
Color: Multi-colored
The suction power on this wasn’t the greatest. Even using the sticky patch provided didn't keep it stuck to the floor. I will say though: I was terrified it would destroy the cheap flooring I put it on, but the sticky stuff didn’t harm the floor at all. The toy itself has been fantastic. My pup loves to chew on all parts of it (the ball, the suction piece, and the rope) and it’s held up against his jaws of steel. I will be purchasing another one of these once he’s finally destroyed the original (we’ve had it almost 3 months with just about daily use).

Perfect
Color: Blue
I am fostering a Husky/Black and Tan Coon dog. We have had her since early February. She has chewed up a lot of my shoes. She destroyed my other dogs stuffed squeaky toys. So I decided to buy her this ball. She reminds me of Linus from Charlie Brown. She wakes up with this ball and falls asleep with it. I’ve not had another shoe fatality. This ball is her most loved possession. It is pretty tough. Now She did kill the squeaker within the first few hours (which trust me I am GOOD with that! I’ve never put treats in it. The rope is still attached. After this review I am going to buy her another as a back up!

Favorite fetch
We have a 70 lb Aussie and a 13 lb Havanese who compete with each other to fetch toys. This hedgehog is their favorite, largely due to the loud assertive squeak. Our big dog is a chewer and has a history of getting to any squeaker in a toy, once nearly choking when successfully removing one from a smaller toy. She still tries to chew on this toy, going straight for the nose but has not yet gotten to the squeaker which is large enough that I don't believe would be a choking hazard if she did get to it. No soft toy is indestructible, but compared to other plush toys, this is more durable. Once the nose has been chewed off, I have simply hand stitched the hole closed and from then on she's no longer interested in chewing through it. Have run through the wash and comes out fine. When one eventually wears out I order a replacement and the 2 puppies compete once again over ownership.
