120 days. Rocky Mountain penstemon is easy to grow from seed and ideal for gardens prone to heat and drought across North America. Rocky Mountain penstemon is native to arid pine and juniper forests from Wyoming down to New Mexico and tenacious performers in poor soil. Rocky Mountain penstemon seeds are a fragrant and simple grow indoors or out for either compact, urban, or traditional gardens. Rocky Mountain seeds promise neat 12 – 30” tall penstemons with rich, leafy greens and robust “snapdragon-like” stalks certain to excite any fresh cut arrangement, basket, or bouquet.

Growing Rocky Mountain Penstemon Garden Seeds

  • Taxonomy: Penstemon strictus
  • Other Names: Beardtongue
  • Seed Type: Perennial
  • Sow Indoors or Outdoors: Rocky Mountain penstemon is easy to grow from seed and may be sown directly outside after final frost or late in fall for early spring blooms. For earliest blooming, start indoors 8 – 10 weeks prior to final frost. Germination occurs in 14 – 21 days with full lighting, then transplant to a sunny spot in the garden or keep as a potted and fragrant grow indoors near a window with full sun.
  • Days to Maturity: 120 days
  • Hardiness Zone: 4 - 9
  • Planting Depth: 1/8”
  • Plant Spacing: 18 – 24”
  • Growth Habit: 12 – 30” tall bushy upright with a 24 – 36” spread covered in flirted stalks of 1” “snapdragon-like” blooms
  • Soil Preference: Fertile, evenly moist, well-drained
  • Light Preference: Full sun
  • Diseases/Pests/Troubleshooting: Unlike its cousin, the snapdragon, Rocky Mountain penstemon is native to arid juniper forests of the American west and prefers hot conditions. Trim plants to provide proper air circulation and avoid overwatering as penstemon does not perform well in soggy and poorly drained soils. Penstemon has no serious pests or diseases but monitor regularly for aphids and white flies.
  • Color: Rich leafy foliage with petals in shades of indigo and royal blue

Penstemon strictus is native to the warm arid pine and juniper forests between southern Wyoming and Colorado down into New Mexico and Arizona. Rocky Mountain penstemon is sometimes loosely referred to as snapdragon since it is a member of the Plantaginaceae family or, better known as, the snapdragon family.

Sprayer gets stuck
Color: Black
It’s perfect having the spray bottle in the paper towel holder butttt the sprayer gets stuck already and it’s only been a month so I can’t constantly spray in one motion, sometimes you have to do fix it yourself bc it won’t pop back up on its own

Handy
Color: Black
This is such a neat piece for your kitchen. Of course it is convenient for paper towels but the added feature of having a spray bottle included is very convenient to keep your counters sparkling. I put in the stone polish and sealer. You could put windex for stove and fridge or water cleaner you wish. I highly recommend this and it is very affordable!

Hello Organized Drawer
My husband thought that I was crazy for buying these but I was so tired of the stacked boxes of foil, wrap, parchment paper, Ziplock baggies, etc. getting the drawer stuck and having to reach in a semi-closed drawer and pry the box loose to open the drawer. Now, he wants all the drawers to be as neat and orderly as this one. While I’m not thrilled about the price point and the finish color (does not match anything I have going on in my kitchen), I do love the product itself. The sliders/cutters are GREAT (12+ uses so far) and don’t leave sharp or jagged edges. The rolls are held in by a panel with small magnets so it’s seamless and easily cleaned/wiped (if needed). I also bought the corresponding Ziplock bag organizers. Another pro of this product: the labels are CLEAR with black font. It sounds like a silly little detail, but it makes a huge difference. One important note: the 12-in version only holds your traditional foils, clear wrap, and wax paper rolls. Parchment paper WILL NOT fit in the 12-in version. If you want to store parchment paper, you need to buy the longer version bc those rolls are traditionally 14-in in length. Same for non-traditional aluminum foil rolls (like grill size foil).
