Expanding on our current thermoelectric (Peltier) refrigerated incubators, the SHEL LAB Drosophila units utilize day/night controls along with LED lighting to provide and excellent environment for drosophila culture. The cabinets are designed with a mechanical convection system to ensure a gentle and even air distribution. A programmable day/night temperature limit control ensure a proper and safe environment. The energy saving thermoelectric cooling system provides improved temperature uniformity and up to 78% less power than traditional compressor based models. These units are covered under a two year warranty and are certified to current global safely standards.

Yes, there are internal lights which activate upon door opening. All Sheldon Manufacturing Peltier-cooled incubators use only low-heat LED lights.

What is the difference between the SRI Drosophila Peltier Incubators and the regular SRI Peltier Cooled Incubators?

There are two key features which the SRI Drosophila Peltier Incubators have which the "standard" SRI Peltier Cooled Incubators do not have:

1. Light. The drosophila incubators have LED lighting whereas the standard SRI peltier incubators have no lighting.
2. Programmable day / night cycles. The drosophila incubators allow you to split the 24 hour day into a night period and a day period, each with a different temperature setting, and with the lights on only during the day.

How does the electricity usage of the SRI Drosophila Peltier Incubators compare to traditional compressor-cooled incubators?

Peltier cooling is much more efficient. Peltier cooled incubators will consume significantly less electricity and produce less waste heat than traditional refrigerated incubators.
