"Black Boots, White Socks" Canvas PrintsTHE STORY: Black Boots, White Socks was designed as a way for me to experiment with the different values (light, darkness, and midtone) of an image I took of a chrome y chestnut gelding with his rider. The duality of the riders shiny black tall boots and the horses tall white socks was an interesting visual I wanted to further study: what would happen if I put a light value next to the black boots and what if I put a dark value next to the white
THE STORY:
“Black Boots, White Socks” was designed as a way for me to experiment with the different values (light, darkness, and midtone) of an image I took of a chrome-y chestnut gelding with his rider. The duality of the rider’s shiny black tall boots and the horse’s tall white socks was an interesting visual I wanted to further study: what would happen if I put a light value next to the black boots and what if I put a dark value next to the white socks? I enjoyed playing with this painting so much and I’m really looking forward to creating similar designs in the future but with different colored horses and backgrounds.
