Публіковані у цьому виданні повісті 'Під тихими вербами' та 'Серед темної ночі' належать до чернігівського періоду творчости Бориса Грінченка (1894–1902).
Тему і сюжет повісти 'Серед темної ночі' авторові підказало саме життя. На початку вересня 1900 року він був присяжним засідателем під час розгляду справ у Чернігівському окружному суді. Як пригадувала згодом Марія Грінченко, судовий процес над коноводами склав основу для написання твору, і його 'персонажі мають риси живих, знайомих людей'.Ревність у роботі приносила письменникові вагомий результат у стислі терміни: первісний варіянт повісти 'Серед темної ночі' був готовий уже за місяць. За свідченням автора, на завершальному етапі написання він не вносив до тексту суттєвих змін. Рукопис 'Серед темної ночі' Грінченко надіслав до 'Киевской старины' на початку 1901 року.Грінченко дізнався про враження редактора ще до його відповіді – з листа Євгена Чикаленка від 20 лютого 1901 року: 'Чув я від Науменка, що Ви прислали до 'К[иевской] старини' таку гарну повість, якої ще ся редакція не мала; се слова Науменка, а він не дуже охочий до похвальби і часто гудить і такі речі, які другі хвалять'.Журнальна публікація не залишилася непоміченою у літературних колах. Зокрема, Агатангел Кримський, іще не прочитавши всіх частин твору, висловив прихильну оцінку: 'Не знаю, як буде кінець, а поки що міні здається, що це має бути найкраща з Ваших довгих повістей'.На його думку, 'Серед темної ночі' виразно вказала на зростання хисту Грінченка, виявила письменника як зрілого та майстерного митця слова, що не поступається талановитим авторам-сучасникам: 'В Вашім “Серед т[емної] ночі”, знов, я добачаю вже дуже міцну руку і, щиро Вам кажу, бачу в нім більше талану, ніж у нашім звіснім, на всі боки розхваленім 'Хіба ревуть воли''.Видання тематично систематизоване й опоряджене концептуальними коментарями, а також розлогим довідковим апаратом – ґрунтовним джерелознавчим коментарем та варіянтами текстів, примітками, поясненням рідковживаних слів, списоком скорочень та ілюстрацій. містить вичерпну інформацію про історію створення і рецепцію повістей. It’s $30 to return and quickly STINKS from body heat

Original review about $30 return below, but since it cost to return I gave it to my husband. He’s a hot sleeper so other than this pillow we’ve switched to all cotton, linen or wool bedding and it’s made a huge difference. (Polyester is plastic so it reflects your heat back to you and makes you sweat more and doesn’t breathe.)
I truly would not have kept this pillow except $30 felt like a waste just to return and he got excited about it. So okay, it’s his. Well I’m the laundry queen in our household (he does all dishes) and I realized very quickly this pillow would need to be washed OFTEN. Like, once a week is NOT enough.
Something about body heat and this material smells HORRIBLE.
Washing it is obviously not easy, so I handwash the outer layer of the pillow with a very gentle soap (bought for silk). And then it has to hang dry.
It doesn’t matter. I can clean it perfectly, no smell remaining whatsoever, but after two nights, it’s so strong I can smell it JUST STANDING NEAR THE BED.
Look. I mentioned my hubs sleeps hot, sure. But he’s hygienic. This should not be such an issue. It’s never been an issue with any other pillows. The smell doesn’t even smell like him or like B.O. or anything. It’s awful and legitimately churns my stomach.
But can I throw out the stupid $200 thing? Noooo. Now he’s attached. And I’m spending hours of my life each week washing it to keep from feeling sick sleeping near it at night. And to avoid having wasted $200. Hate this thing.
DON’T BUY THIS STUPID PILLOW. Dropping from 2 stars to 1 Because of the smell.

I thought I could buy this and see if the height would work for me. It didn’t, and pinched my neck instead. But now the *only* way to return it is to ship through UPS (not return to the UPS Store or Kohl’s or Whole Foods, which would be free).
I was going to return it and try a different size, but such a high price just to *try* it is not worth it to me.
I’ve returned much larger (defective) items in the past without hassle or cost (like an entire heavy duty garage shelf with broken pieces).
Had I known, I would not have ordered in the first place, so I hope this saves someone else.
As for the pillow itself, it was unique, but I couldn’t even really lay my head on it for more than a moment until I had let it air out for more than a week. It REEKED upon arrival. My husband said it smelled like ozone, and my brother compared it to the inside of an airplane. It burned my throat if I tried to lay on it for more than about 30 seconds at a time. Two and a half weeks later, the smell is still slightly there.
So even if it was comfy for me, I would not keep this pillow.

The best pillow for side and back sleeping

Bought this pillow for my husband, he loves it. He is back sleeping and has been the best pillow so far. Worth the money. With buy one for me and my daughter. It’s a little pricey but when it comes to sleeping it’s worth the money.highly recommend

Best pillow ever

I have to say, after decades of buying all sorts of pillows, trying to work for me and my short neck, this is THE one.
I bought the low profile ones and OMG it is just perfect for me. I'm finally getting a good nights sleep without fighting a pillow that is too firm or doubling a pillow that is too soft and thin. It's also not as heavy as other memory foam pillows I've tried. I hate a heavy pillow. Yet, it isn't so light weight that it gets pushed off the bed easily if you change positions a lot during the night.

Great therapeutic pillow

I have been having pinch nerve issues where my fingers fall asleep with the pillow I had, so I started to search for pillows that would alleviate that and stay within a budget. Although this pillow cost more than I wanted to spend, the only other pillow that I was considering cost $100 more than this Purple pillow, so I purchased this pillow. The neck pains and pinch nerve issues are mostly gone. It is comfortable, maintains its shape and keeps you cool. I hope this pillow lasts a few years.
