ABOUT THE ART

Art Basel is now in its 47th year and is a must-see for all art collectors and for those who just can’t get enough art in their daily lives.

The notoriously hard selection policy and rigorous high standards has ensured Art Basel remains the number one art fair in the world. What singles out Art Basel most is its vast list of additional events and talks, making it much more than just a commercial fair, but rather an astonishing meeting point for the international art world. Indeed, it is believed that upwards of 75,000 people visit each year.

The director of the fair, Marc Spiegler, has been instrumental in the art fair’s expansion into Hong Kong and has managed to keep the fair relevant despite a rapidly changing art market—introducing the Art Basel App to accompany you throughout the fair.

The fair has certainly come a long way since 1970 when three local art galleries created it with just 90 galleries and 16,000 visitors. With the introduction of Unlimited in 2000, the classic exhibition booth was revolutionized by its open-plan environment capable of showing vast monumental works. Art Basel is now so big, it has split into "Sectors"—we take a look at the must-see events for each sector in this years calendar.

Excellent addition to a trip
Format: Paperback
Just got back from Paris. My 9 year old daughter loved using this book throughout our adventures. It was light enough to carry with us each day and had a nice mix of information to read and things to look for. There were A LOT of different sites listed. In a week we still didn't get to some of them. Would definitely buy one of these books for another trip.

A must-have for Grade-schoolers going to Paris
Format: Paperback
This was an absolutely wonderful Secret Agent Spy book that kept our kids engaged throughout our time in Paris. I bought a copy for each of our three children. This book was perfect for my 8 and 9 year-old, my 6 year old was only moderately engaged. It could be her personality, it could be her age. But what this book did do was bring to life the main tourist attractions we were dragging them to. We spent 4 hours at the Louvre, and once we were done with that Mission, my older two were immediately wanting to move on to the missions that took place just outside the Louvre. The writing is appropriate without being condescending or too simple. Highly recommend this for any grade-schooler. May be ok for middle schoolers too. Thanks Catherine Aragon!

So fun
Format: Audiobook
The audio version was well-narrated. Enjoyed it from start to finish. The story is well-developed, and the characters are multidimensional. I always enjoy anything by Kris Bryant.

Great read
Format: Kindle
Another great one word title from Kris Bryant. The characters were heartfelt and sincere. This was an easy read, yet full of emotion and had me rooting for both characters.
