Hoe wordt het product gemaakt?

Vista Alegre 10 Years Old Tawny Port begint met een blend van traditionele Douro-druiven, waaronder Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz en Tinta Barroca. Na de oogst fermenteren de druiven kort voordat de fermentatie stopt door toevoeging van grape spirit. Dit proces behoudt de natuurlijke suikers en verhoogt het alcoholpercentage tot ongeveer 20%. De jonge port rijpt vervolgens gemiddeld tien jaar in oude eiken vaten van 550 tot 600 liter. Deze vaten staan in de lodges van Vila Nova de Gaia, waar de constante temperatuur en vochtigheid zorgen voor een langzame, gelijkmatige rijping. Tijdens de rijping oxideert de wijn geleidelijk, wat de kleur verandert van robijnrood naar amber-bruin en de smaken ontwikkelt van vers fruit naar gedroogd fruit en noten. Vista Alegre blent wijnen uit verschillende oogstjaren om een consistente stijl en kwaliteit te bereiken. De port ondergaat een lichte filtratie voordat deze wordt gebotteld.

Het verhaal van Vista Alegre

Vista Alegre opende in 1824 in de Douro-vallei, Portugal, en behoort tot de oudste porthuizen van het land. Oprichter António Pinto Leite legde de basis voor een bedrijf dat zich zou richten op kwaliteit en traditie.
