Elke ijsvogel is een beetje verschillend (kop kan bijvoorbeeld anders gedraaid zijn, bek kan open zijn ...) en daarom uniek. Het beeldje is beschilderd en is afgewerkt met een hoogglanslak.

De vogels zijn vervaardigd uit gerecyclede olievaten. Bovendien wordt in sommige gevallen ook ander metaal gebruikt, zoals auto's en witgoed. De olievaten worden geopend, platgemaakt, afgebrand en vervolgens op de juiste manier bewerkt om de vogels, dieren en andere objecten te creëren. Elk detail wordt zorgvuldig gelast, waardoor deze kunstwerken duurzaam en van hoge kwaliteit zijn.
