Platycodon grandiflorus, beter bekend als Ballonbloem, is een geliefde vaste plant die bekendstaat om zijn opvallende bloemknoppen. Voordat de bloemen opengaan, lijken de knoppen op kleine opgeblazen ballonnen. Vervolgens openen ze zich tot prachtige stervormige bloemen in tinten blauw, paars, roze of wit. Dankzij deze bijzondere bloeiwijze is de Ballonbloem een echte blikvanger in borders, plantenbakken en siertuinen.

Deze vaste plant bloeit rijk gedurende de zomer en trekt bijen en andere bestuivers aan. De Ballonbloem groeit het beste op een zonnige tot halfschaduwrijke standplaats in goed doorlatende, voedzame grond. Een regelmatige watergift tijdens droge periodes helpt de plant gezond en sterk te houden. Door uitgebloeide bloemen te verwijderen kan de bloeiperiode worden verlengd.

Met een potmaat van 12 cm en een hoogte van ongeveer 22 cm wordt deze Ballonbloem geleverd als een sterke, jonge plant die direct een decoratieve toevoeging vormt in de tuin of op het terras. Dankzij de compacte groei is deze plant ook geschikt voor kleinere tuinen en plantenbakken.

This is one of the good ones. There are other brands just as good, and manny brands are worse, but this handles well, rolls down easily, doesn't come off at all easily, and adapts to dips and curves like a champ. Appropriately heavy and dead, I'm happy with the way it smothers panel resonances and even at muffling direct sound, like a big hand over my Uncle Harry's eternally noisy mouth. You can rip the foil but you have to work hard at doing that. Remember to buy a brayer; you can roll overlaps nice and thin. Also remember to pre-wipe the sheet metal with a decent solvent like acetone or Stoddard/Varsol. It should last forever.
