Roman en Adelheid Pfaffl werden op zeer jonge leeftijd eigenaar van wijnhuis Pfaffl in Stetten. Ze namen het wijnhuis in 1978 over. Voorheen stond de boerderij in het teken van het verbouwen van granen, aardappels en het houden van koeien en varkens. Maar gelukkig wisten deze twee het over een andere boeg te gooien en zich te focussen op het produceren van wijnen. Tegenwoordig staat het huis internationaal symbool voor Grüner Veltliner. Ze zijn zelfs door Wine Enthusiast verkozen tot European Winery of the Year. Met de Zweigelt Sandstein onderbouwt Roman Pfaffl zijn uitstekende reputatie als het gaat om de druifsoort Zweigelt. De wijnstokken komen van de locatie "In Neubergen", een steile zuidhelling met een iets warmer klimaat dan in de rest van het Weinviertel - ideaal voor de Zweigelt-druif. De druiven worden handmatig geoogst en daarna onsteeld en gekneusd. De gisting vindt plaats op een gecontroleerde temperatuur van 28 graden in roestvrijstalen tanks voor de duur van 23 dagen. Het sap wordt regelmatig overgepompt om meer smaak en kleur te verkrijgen. Na de gisting rijpt de helft van de wijn op eikenhouten vaten voor drie maanden.De oogst van de Pfaffl Sandstein Zweigelt
Een belangrijke periode voor deze Zweigelt want in deze tijd bouwt hij zeer veel geuren en smaken op. In de geur indrukken van rijpe kersen, bramen en wat rokerigs. In de smaak zeer vol en stevig met zachte tannines, veel rijkdom van zwart een rood fruit aangevuld met tonen van ceder hout, mineralen en eikenhout.Shipping Notes
