Omdat de wijnen uit Portugal niet altijd genoeg houdbaarheid hadden om de bootreis naar Engeland te overleven, werd er gezocht naar oplossingen hiervoor. Eerst werd er aan de wijn wat brandewijn toegevoegd. Later werd het definitieve produkt port ontwikkeld doordat men de gisting van de wijn ging stoppen door toevoeging van wijnalcohol. Hierdoor houdt de wijn die als basis voor de port dient restzoet door niet vergiste suikers. Rode port heeft verschillende soorten: ruby (jong robijnrood), tawny (ouder, bruinrood), pale tawny (oud, bruinachtig). Port met wijnjaar: Vintage, late-bottled vintage, colheita (licht rood). Er bestaat ook witte port en sinds kort zelfs soms een rose port.

No more painful cracked heels! These really do work!

These really do work well. This is one of the first winters that I have not experienced painful, cracked heels. They are long lasting, and definitely make my heels smoother and softer after wearing them. For the first few times wearing them I simply went with the moisturizer embedded in them. After a few uses I then covered my heels with Aquaphor Advanced Therapy Healing Ointment. This worked even better, and I would recommend it. I am very glad I bought these. Of note, I have really big feet that are quite wide and the XL are a little snug but not uncomfortably so. I use them overnight, but also have worn them under socks and they work fine.

Stains easily. Tight for men's size 11 feet

Husband wore dark cotton socks over these gel foot covers overnight and the covers picked up color from the socks. Tried hand washing, even dabbing with a bleach soaked paper towel, but the stains remained. The covers are a bit tight for men's size 11. Edit: After a few more hand washings the stains began to fade. However one tore around the leg opening when taking it off.

Worthless. Tore on first use.

The first time I put these on my feet, the whole toe broke right through. They were a proper fit and my feet are well pedicured. Just very poor quality. I don’t recommend.
