Dit voorschakelapparaat dimbaar CMH 315W Lucilu e-ballast is speciaal gemaakt voor gebruik in combinatie met Sunkraft Ceramic Metal lampen. Net als de andere Lucilu digitale voorschakelapparaten beschikt ook deze uitvoering over “soft start” technologie wat ervoor zorgt dat de lamp niet in een keer op vol vermogen inschakelt maar langzaam opstart. Dit is niet alleen veiliger maar verlengt ook de levensduur van de lamp. Daarnaast is de lamp ook nog gezekerd tegen oververhitting. Met de getrapte schakelaar van deze dimbare ballast kun je het verbruikte vermogen van de lamp instellen op 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 en 100%. Zo kan de plant voor iedere levensfase de benodigde hoeveelheid licht krijgen. Op warme dagen biedt dit voorschakelapparaat ook de mogelijkheid de lamp met minder vermogen te laten branden om zo de warmteafgifte te verminderen.

De CMH 315W is te zwaar voor gebruik in een Bonanza 0.35 kast maar is zeer geschikt voor gebruik in de Bonanza 1m2. Een van de grote voordelen van deze lamp is dat je ze heel dicht boven de planten kan hangen. Zeker voor een gasontladingslamp is dat erg prettig. Transportverlies is bij licht namelijk altijd een groot probleem. Hoe groter de afstand tussen lamp en plant, des te kleiner de hoeveelheid licht dat de plant bereikt. Hangt de lamp dicht boven de planten dan moet je een reflector gebruiken die het licht onder een grote hoek weerkaatst om zo een goede lichtspreiding over het kweekoppervlak te verkrijgen. De CMH 315 kan daarom het beste gebruikt worden in combinatie met een Azerwing V-Pro reflector.
