Matthiola De matthiola past goed bij het vrolijke, uitdagende en spannende van de lente. De verfijnde bloem, ook wel violier genoemd, verwelkomt gretig het voorjaar met de grijsgroene bladeren, gevulde bloementrossen en zoete lichtkruidige geur.
Mediterraan Matthiola stamt oorspronkelijk uit de mediterrane landen en is vernoemd naar Pierandra Mattioli (15-1577), een Italiaanse lijfarts van Maximiliaan II van Oostenrijk en schrijver van verschillende genees- en plantkundige werken. De bloem is een uitstekende sfeerverhoger in (romantische) boeketten vanwege de witte en de pastelkleuren. De paarse en donkerrode bloemen geven een veldboeket dat robuuste karakter.
Verzorging Met de juiste verzorging kan de matthiola tot twaalf dagen mooi blijven. Uiteraard snij je een stukje van de stelen, verwijder je de onderste bladeren en zet je het boeket in schoon water met snijbloemenvoedsel. Tocht, volle zon en fruit moet je vermijden.
