In deze sessie laat assertiviteitsexpert Nienke Verhoeven zien wat assertief gedrag precies inhoudt en wat het niét is.

Wat wil je bereiken?
Je formuleert voor jezelf wat je aan het einde van de training bereikt wilt hebben en brengt in kaart wat je op dit moment weerhoudt om assertief te reageren.

Assertieve taal
Assertief zijn is durven, maar het is ook techniek: weten welke woorden je moet gebruiken en hoe je krachtig tegenover iemand staat.

Waarom is niet dom
Vaak weet je best wat je wilt, maar vind je het moeilijk om dat uit te spreken. Omdat je de ander niet voor het hoofd wilt stoten, of geen gedoe wilt. In deze sessie reken je af met dit soort belemmeringen.

Belemmerende gedachten

Gebruik de stop-knop
Je wilt wel assertief zijn, maar soms overvalt een vraag je. Daar is een oplossing voor: de stop-knop. Zo zet je hem in.

Erop af!
Assertief gedrag bestaat uit meer dan alleen reageren op anderen: zelf op mensen en situaties afgaan, hoort er ook bij.

Losse eindjes
Je hebt er vast een paar: losse eindjes. Situaties waarin mensen in je omgeving iets hebben gedaan wat jij niet prettig vond. Maar waarvan je nog niets hebt gezegd.

Belangen in evenwicht
Een belangrijk onderdeel van assertief gedrag is dat je met respect en begrip kunt luisteren naar de mening van anderen.

Tegenstellingen oplossen
Je hebt assertief verteld wat je wilt. Je gesprekspartner reageert daarop eveneens assertief: hij zegt dat hij het volstrekt niet met je eens is. Wat nu?

Assertief in lastige situaties
Je krijgt een aantal lastige situaties voorgeschoteld, op video. Stel je voor dat de persoon die jou toespreekt op dit moment tegenover je staat. Hoe reageer je?

My 90 lb. Pitbull's All-Time Fave Toy

I ordered a plethora of new toys for Bruce to keep him occupied while I am working remotely from home. Poor guy gets so bored while I'm stuck in front of my computer 8+ hours a day. All the other toys are animated, but this one is just a big floppy chewy squeaky toy. Bruce quickly lost interest in all the other chirping, hopping, and twirling toys and fell in love with "Diny". When I opened Diny and gave it to Bruce, he had the elated and surprised look of a 3 yr old at Christmas. And he stayed that happy for hours, and then each time he picked up Diny to play. Diny became his go-to toy over all others (and there are many!). It is well made out of durable fabric, and they did not stuff it full of kapoc (I hate kapoc in dogs toys!). And it is delightfully low-tech. Normally he tears a squeaky toy apart as soon as he can isolate the squeaky mechanism. But cleverly, the squeaky box is loose in the long belly so it moves from one end to the other as the toy is handled. That made it difficult for Bruce to locate it. The toy remained in good condition for 2 weeks of near constant attention by Bruce. But yesterday he zeroed in on the squeaky box and ripped Diny to shreds. I was sad to see Diny go so soon. But boy-howdy was Bruce happy with it. I'm gonna buy another because we liked it so much. And so did I : )
