Dat is terug te voeren op een aantal factoren. Rode rattenslangen worden niet al te groot, zijn ongevaarlijk, vertonen de meest uiteenlopende kleuren en zijn goed na te kweken.
We spreken weliswaar over de rode rattenslang, maar sinds een biologische herindeling is de soort opgedeeld in drie soorten: De rode rattenslang, de prairie rattenslang en een derde nieuwe soort Pantherophis slowinskii. De verzorging van deze drie soorten is vergelijkbaar en daarom worden ze in dit boek als rode rattenslang behandeld.
De rode rattenslang kent in de vrije natuur een enorm verspreidingsgebied en onnoemelijk veel kleurschakeringen. De meeste kleuren dragen wel het rode pigment, maar er zijn ook ?rode? rattenslangen die hele andere kleuren hebben. Dankzij deze veelvoud aan kleuren zijn liefhebbers ook rattenslangen op kleur gaan kweken, net zoals ook met katten, konijnen en vogels gedaan wordt.
In het boek de rode rattenslang vindt de lezer alle nodige informatie om deze slangen verantwoord te kunnen houden. Voeding, verzorging, aanschaf, kweek, voortplanting en vele andere aspecten komen uitgebreid aan de orde. Auteur Jan-Cor Jacobs is al jarenlang actief als promotor en voorlichter van terrarium-minnend Nederland en België. Hij heeft talloze publicaties op zijn naam staan en streeft ernaar om door middel van goede informatievoorziening het verantwoord houden van terrariumdieren te bevorderen.

The ventilation holes (9/10) actually do their job, keeping little feet from becoming sweaty disasters, though they also double as convenient entry points for sand, pebbles, and whatever treasures your kid decides to collect. Style wise (7/10), look… no one is winning fashion awards here, but kids love them and confidence is half the battle. The heel strap (9/10) deserves a medal flip it back and suddenly your child enters “sport mode” like a video game character with boosted speed stats. The color options (10/10) are wild enough to satisfy even the most chaotic tiny human, from neon explosions to surprisingly normal shades. They’re ridiculously lightweight (10/10), which is great until your kid forgets they’re wearing them and tries to wear them to bed. Durability (9/10) is solid they can handle running, jumping, puddle stomping, and general kid nonsense without falling apart. And the independence factor (10/10) Huge. No laces, no struggle, no dramatic “I can’t do it!” moments just slip on and go. Crocs as a brand (9/10) clearly know their lane comfort over cool, and honestly, it works. Final Score: 9.2/10 They may not be pretty, but they’re practical, indestructible, and weirdly lovable like the chicken nuggets of footwear
