VrouwEmile Baes (1879 1954) werd in 1879 geboren in Brussel en kreeg daar zijn opleiding aan de Acadmie Royale des Beaux Arts. Rond 1900 verhuisde hij naar Parijs, waar hij les kreeg van historieschilder Alexandre Cabanel (1823 1889) en portrettist Lon Bonnat (1833 1922). Baes heeft vooral naam gemaakt met zijn naakten. Aan het begin van zijn carrire schilderde hij in een academische stijl, hoogstwaarschijnlijk onder invloed van zijn leermeesters. Maar al
