Het is bedoeld om gewassen in de moestuin te beschermen tegen vorst en insectenvraat, zonder dat de groei van de planten belemmerd wordt doordat licht en lucht toch doorgelaten worden.

Je gebruikt het doek door het over je gewassen te draperen of er tunnels mee te vormen, waarbij je het materiaal op maat knipt. Zorg dat de randen goed vastzitten met natuurlijke materialen, stenen of grondpennen om wegwaaien te voorkomen. Het doek kan gebruikt worden bij vorst of koude wind. Bij warmer weer haal je het weg om oververhitting of overmatige condensatie te voorkomen.
