Deze kastanjeboom heeft geen specifieke cultivar, het is de originele kastanje Castanea sativa. Het is een compacte boom die ideaal is voor kleinere tuinen. Met een hoogte van 3 tot 5 meter biedt deze boom een overvloed aan eetbare kastanjes in de herfst. De kastanjes hebben een zoete, nootachtige smaak en zijn perfect voor diverse culinaire toepassingen. De boom gedijt goed in goed doorlatende, vruchtbare grond en heeft een zonnige locatie nodig om optimaal te groeien. Regelmatig snoeien bevordert een mooie kroon en gezonde groei.

Tips en verzorging:

  • Aanplanten: doordat de planten geleverd worden in pot kunnen ze het hele jaar door geplant worden. Plant bij voorkeur in het najaar, dan is de bodem nog warm en vochtig waardoor ze goed zullen inwortelen in de bodem. Planten die in het najaar geplant zijn hebben een beter ontwikkeld wortelstelsel dan planten die pas in het voorjaar geplant worden. 
  • Volle grond of potten: je kan alle planten ook telen in potten, hoe groter de pot hoe beter ze het zullen doen. Ze zullen altijd beter groeien en meer vruchten produceren in de volle grond.
