Tasting Notes for Christian Drouin Coeur de Lion Calvados
On the nose, bright apple, hazelnut, caramelized pineapple, candied fruit peel and sandalwood. Concentrated flavors of apple tart, toasted walnut, vanilla custard and clove. Silky smooth texture with an endless, warming finish.
Suggested Serves
Sip it slowly before or after dinner. Or use judiciously in cocktails calling for apple brandy. Also pairs beautifully with apple pie or tarte tatin for dessert.
Production Notes
The sharp freshness of perry pears is combined with the smoothness of cider apples hand-picked in Normandy. The ciders and perries are distilled in a column still and then aged in old, often-used casks that preserve the subtle balance of this Calvados with its appetizing fragrance of fresh fruit.
