This Fender Custom Shop ’54 Telecaster begins with a two-piece select ash body shaped in the classic single-cutaway Telecaster profile. The ash is dressed in a Wide-Fade 2-Color Sunburst lacquer finish that wraps the body nicely. Fender Custom Shop’s Heavy Relic finish treatment materializes in charming scrapes and dings across the body that make it truly feel lived-in and well loved. This treatment can be found across the entire guitar for a consistent visual package.

The single-cutaway ash of this Telecaster is matched with a one-piece riftsawn maple neck shaped in a 1954 “U” profile. Providing that vintage feel in the palm, this neck offers a firm grip, reminiscent of early Fender necks. The riftsawn maple fills out to a fingerboard measuring with a 9.5” radius fingerboard that presents a more modern feel across the fingers. Twenty-one frets line this maple using 6105 Narrow Tall fret wire to enhance articulation in fretting and playing. Vintage-Style tuning machines line the headstock alongside a Vintage-Style disc string tree.

Sonically, this Custom Shop plays with great Tele tonality with the use of two Custom Shop hand-wound Loaded ’51 Nocaster single-coil pickups. This pair of single-coils play with all the great Tele twang heard across generations for a classic-sounding Telecaster experience. Fat ‘50s Tele wiring appears in the electronics to add onto the unique setup of this Custom Shop piece. Further hardware specifications on this Custom Shop include a bone nut and a three-saddle American Vintage Strings-Through-Body Tele bridge with brass saddles for a fully stable and solid playing experience across the full scale length. This Tele travels with a Fender Custom Shop Deluxe Hardshell case.
