Madrona Block Md50 3.3" x 8" x 15.6" 11.8 lbs. This is a half-log bowl blank of Pacific Madrone wood taken from a crotch where a small branch split away from the main trunk. The wood from this tree has a light peach color with darker peach undertones. The crotch in this bowl blank has swirling and expanded grain with a bit of feather figure. It is 3.3" deep on one end, 3.6" deep on the end with the annotation. The bark is mostly complete and well-attached, so you have the option of turning either a conventional bowl or a "barky" natural-edge bowl. If you want a full bark edge on the natural rim, you will need to secure the bark with CA glue before and possibly during turning. This is a GREEN to partially air-dried bowl blank, meaning that it still retains a lot of its original moisture from when it was a living tree. It has been well-sealed with Anchor Seal and is in the process of slowly drying; this process can take years if leave it in log form. It was measured at 35% moisture content in January 2023. If you need a current moisture content, please message us so that we can check its status for you. This is a nice, solid bowl blank. I do not see any flaws or areas of concern. It is extra long, so you may be able to turn several bowls from it or explore winged bowl designs. About the Tree This Madrona tree was blown down during a snowstorm that hit San Juan Island in December 2022. It lived on the west side of the island, near Lime Kiln State Park, a famous orca watching location. |

Get this if you draw, write, play touch games

Good but Installation was a Bit Iffy

90% of the time I use my iPad for school. Originally, I used just a regular screen protector, but it would get dirty with smudges and imprints from my Apple Pencil, and there would be a lot of glare since I'm in a classroom most of the time, which would make it awkward to see what I was writing at times. Plus, the screen protector was too smooth so it would actually be difficult to write legibly.
This product makes it a lot easier to write smoother on the iPad. I only just installed it, so I can't say much on the smear protection yet, but I can already see the reduction in glare as well. For $8, getting a pack of two of these with an install kit is a very nice deal imo.
My only issue was the installation process, which could've been as much my own fault tbh, but I felt like I aligned the screen protector pretty well with the sticker, however the first time I tried installing it it was way off the center (maybe my case got in the way?). The biggest issue was using the squeegee to pop air bubbles, and this is something they don't mention in neither their instruction guide nor video, but you're supposed to used the velvet red side, not the naked white side: using the white side actually takes the grit off the protector, which is obviously something you don't want on a product that relies on it. Thankfully I have another one in reserve in case this one wears off sooner than expected.

Perfect Paperlike substitute

I’ve been using this screen for roughly two months now and I can say it was so worth it, it is rough on plastic nibs! I am going to order some heavier duty ones and see how it fairs! It works just fine ON TOP of a screen protector isn’t that great!
I wanted something like paper like but didn’t want to pay that expensive price for something I wasn’t sure I was going to like. This one does the trick and gives me just enough resistance to feel more in control of my pen!
It fits well just make sure to know the size if your screen I had to modify where the camera indent was but it cut just fine and looks great!

Feels like paper and makes writing fun!

I was hesitant to start using my iPad for class because I HATED how my Apple Pencil sounded hitting the screen while I was writing.
This product has completely changed my mind and now I use it almost daily! I love the feel of this screen and it has lasted all semester long. It was a little tricky getting the screen on just right, and I had to use both because the first time I had a bunch of air bubbles, but the second time was perfect! I think you would probably want to get a new screen every year to ensure it still has that paper-like feel, but I think that’s totally reasonable!
