History is an ever-expanding well of inspiration for writers, and today's market for historical fiction is going strong. Agents and publishers are hungry for stories told from new perspectives—and stories that have never been told at all—to feed the demands of an audience looking to make sense of our present reality through the lens of the past. This bundle compiles eight OnDemand webinars packed with advice and experience from bestselling authors of historical fiction, along with one digital Writer's Digest edition, altogether valued at $647.91. For the discounted price of $57.99, you can learn how to write historical fiction that stands up to today's market, while remaining authentic and staying true to your source of inspiration.

Products included in the bundle:

Building a Historical World in Sub-genres (Webinar) - Of all the genres, historical fiction is unique in that it melds together with so many other genres, which gives historical fiction an almost limitless number of subgenres, including historical mystery, historical romance, historical fantasy, historical thriller, and even historical science fiction. In this session, Trisha R. Thomas will share how authors have successfully mined historical sub-genres to show writers how to make their own unique historical stories. ($79.99 value)

Making Historical Characters True to Their Times--Yet Relatable to Modern Readers (Webinar) - Consider all the thoughtful creativity writers use to create a character--personality, motivation, background, and so much more. While developing characters for fiction set in historical times--any time period before the 2000's--writers face an additional challenge: how to balance making characters true to their times yet relatable to modern readers. This session will provide insights, tips, and techniques for historical writers to successfully handle this tricky balancing act. ($79.99 Value)

10 Tips for Writing Accurate and Engaging Historical Fiction (Webinar) - One of the trickiest parts of writing historical fiction is balancing between maintaining historical accuracy and writing a compelling story. In this session, Susan Meissner will guide writers through how to do both with 10 top tips developed while writing more than two dozen critically-acclaimed and bestselling novels. ($79.99 value)

Turning Historical Figures Into Fictional Detectives (Webinar) - USA TODAY Bestselling and Agatha Award-winning Author Amanda Flower will discuss the tricks and tips for turning real life historical figures into fictional characters. Flower is the author of the Emily Dickinson Mystery Series and the Katharine Wright Mystery Series featuring the Wright Brothers. In her talk, she will emphasize the best kind of research, finding the character’s unique voice that honors the person they actually were, and why setting both time and place are essentials to get right to fully understand the historical figure. ($79.99 value)

Strategies for Keeping Historical Fiction Fresh and Innovative (Webinar) - Sometimes the challenge in writing historical fiction is knowing the story a little too well, which can get in the way of telling a really good story. In this session, Amanda Churchill shares strategies for getting outside the story to keep the writing fresh and innovative for readers. ($79.99 value)

Using Historical Facts for Character Development (Webinar) - Historical fiction is a writing genre that often combines a little bit of the real with a little (and maybe sometimes a lot) of the fictional. That can include events, discussions, and characters. In this session, Ryan C. Coleman leads writers through the process of using historical facts to develop engaging characters for historical fiction. ($79.99 value)

Managing the Icky and the Tricky in Historical Fiction (webinar) - Readers love travelling back in time for compelling stories of yore. But creating those stories can come with tricky, and sometimes icky, challenges. How can writers avoid pitfalls such as anachronisms, overly modern attitudes and dialogue, or viewpoints that might offend today's audience? This session will address specific challenges and offer ideas for navigating them so the historical fiction writer can craft stories that balance truths of the past with the need to appeal to modern readers. ($79.99 value)

Structure as Strategy: Building Pace in Historical Narratives (Webinar) - In this session. we'll focus on two pillars of historical writing: pacing and structure. A thoughtful and well-organized structure will guide the reader, even during complex or complicated plot points. It will also allow for information to be shared without the text feeling over-expository. Meanwhile, pacing will work alongside structure to push the plot forward and keep both writer and reader in the narrative sweet spot (not too abrupt, but without lingering too long). ($79.99 value)

Writer's Digest May/June 2025 Digital Edition (Digital Magazine) - No matter what they write, all writers will find themselves researching something at some point in their writing process. And, whether or not writers can identify what inspired their work, the idea had to come from somewhere! In this issue, paired with the ever-popular Writer’s Digest 101 Best Websites for Writers, you’ll find articles that will help you get inspired and find the resources to make that inspiration work for you. ($9.99 value)

wi-fi connectivity appears to be fixed! Yay!
Style: WF-7840, Set: DUAL TRAY (500 sheets)/FAX/ADF/PRINT/COPY/SCAN
Updated: Connectivity has only failed once out of may prints! Yay! 5 stars if this keeps up! LEAVE THE FIRMWARE ALONE NOW! Updated again: This latest firmware update is an improvement. Up to 4 stars now: The printer has worked 2 times out of the last 3 prints. That is better than never working. Killing the Epson task and unplugging/plugging the printer is still the fasted way to fix when connectivity fails. Updated again: Every frequent firmware update makes the connectivity WORSE. Now the printer FAILS TO CONNECT EVERY TIME I PRINT. Right now the printer is installing yet another update. The notification says the firmware update is under SETTINGS. Yes, true, but 4 layers down so I end up searching and scrolling back an forth with every update. Why is it that the most used features are buried in the menus. Coder's revenge, I guess. The connection fails, the connection fixer thing asks a bunch of stupid questions and won't go away. Is the printer on? Did you change your router? Then is fails and suggests trying more stupid stuff. It should say: Use Task Manager to kill the running Epson task. Unplug the printer, then plug it back in. In 5 minutes, you will have your print. How convenient. EVERY TIME I PRINT. I expect this or the next FW update will kill even that. This is a beautiful mechanical machine with idiotic electronics and firmware/software. Updated review: This printer forgets who and where it is about once a week. The printer is only 6 feet from the Wi-Fi router. I have to run the Connection Checker program, answer irrelevant questions, reset the router, blah, blah, blah - the robot version of a customer support call. Make sure you also have an HP or Brother printer in case you need something printed right away when it hangs up. You will end up with an extra copy once the Epson wakes up. This is getting old. My HP printer never does this. My two Brother printers never do this. Epson finally came out with a mechanical masterpiece that always feeds and never jams. Now Epson needs to work on their interface design. I never thought Epson Connection Checker would be on my most-used software list. ---------- Original review: I really like this printer. I am not a photographer and I don't print t-shirts. The WF-7840 prints fast and feeds paper without jamming. That is more than I can say about the Artisan 1430 as a general purpose printer. This is a big printer, but if you have room for it, it is a very nice machine. It does so much that you will need the help file to do much of anything, but it will be there somewhere. I printed all of June, July, and August and part of September on the starter ink cartridges. I only use it for color prints. I have 3 laser printers for B&W prints. The WF-7840 only has ink 4 cartridges instead of 6 like the 1430. I am very happy with my purchase.

Jobsite Workhorse
Style: WF-7840, Set: DUAL TRAY (500 sheets)/FAX/ADF/PRINT/COPY/SCAN
Have had previous models of this printer and they have always been solid. We use them in our office trailers on our construction jobsites and this new version works excellent just as the previous series did.

Excellent, as long as you don't update firmware
Style: WF-7840, Set: DUAL TRAY (500 sheets)/FAX/ADF/PRINT/COPY/SCAN
About 6 months in, and I am very happy with the performance of this printer. I loved that it collated multipage documents without being told to! I have denied every request for firmware updates, and I am pleased to report that remanufactured ink cartridges (pronounced "more affordable and just as good") work just fine. DO NOT UPDATE THE FIRMWARE. The updates only serve to make it impossible to use off-brand or remanufactured ink cartridges.
