Please welcome the Wychwood cocoon cardi shrug!  Forever obsessed with the idea that you can knit any garment or accessory starting and ending with just a few stitches, Jenny F. of SweaterFreak set out to create this a-line, loose fitting, comfortable and flattering cardi-shrug that can be worn with anything all year round. 

The cardi is worked on the bias, with no long cast on or bind off; smart shaping ensures proper fit.  The fabric uses simple garter ridges to highlight this new and absolutely unique seamless construction.  

• Seamless, completely seamless
• Worked mostly flat but a bit in the round too.
• No long cast on and no bind off!

Perfectly suited for solid, variegated and speckled yarns in your stash.  Any wool or wool/silk fingering weight yarns that drape well will be well suited for this pattern. The designer recommends superwash single ply yarns because they tend to drape better than non superwash or plied yarns.

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Shilling by Tuskenknits (70% Merino Wool / 30% Silk; 100g/438yds): 3 (4, 5) Skeins.

ALTERNATE YARN: La Jolla by Baah Yarn (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/400yds): 3 (4, 5) Skeins.  Easy care superwash merino that is hand dyed in Nevada, USA.

ALTERNATE YARN: Mechita by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/420yds): 3 (4, 5) Skeins. This single-ply, washable merino wool yarn is available in beautiful variegated colors as well as speckles.  Due to the lack of silk, the finished garment will not have a visible sheen, but will have similar variegation to the sample.

MEASUREMENTS: The shrug is a very loosely fit garment, please select size based on your cross-back measurement: XS/S (M, L) to fit cross back 14.5” (16”, 17”)
YARDAGE: 1200-2000 yds
SKILL LEVEL: Easy

NEEDLES: Size US3 / 3.25mm & US 4 / 3.5mm 24-40" circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
OTHER TOOLS: Stitch Markers, Tapestry Needle
GAUGE: 24 sts x 28 rows = 4" in Stockinette
