Inspiration

I photographed these three children on a bench  in the township. I was immediately drawn the  little one in the middle and I knew I had to paint this scene. I painted the subjects in monochrome grey to capture her reserved and sad mood, while the vivid background colour highlighted the others happiness despite the circumstances they found themselves living in.

Artist Bio

I am an artist and photographer and have been painting, drawing, crafting and taking photos from as far back as I can remember. People really interest me and capturing the essence of who they are is what I strive to reflect in my paintings.  When something visually moves me I just cannot help myself, and I simply have to paint it.

I work in various mediums, depending on the artwork required – Acrylic, oils, charcoal, pencil, and collage. 

I don’t just paint on canvas. Nothing is safe from me when I have a paint brush in hand,  Furniture, house signs and murals are also favourite projects of mine. I have done quite a few of these around St Francis and in PE and have been lucky enough to have my work featured in the Home/Tuis Magazine on numerous occasions as well as being interviewed on Kwela TV.
